Vacation, All I Ever Wanted

Do you have specific pens that you choose to take with you on vacation?

At home I tend towards c/c pens, because I like to change ink colors. However, I'm packing for vacation this week and I have my two TWSBI Diamond 540s and my VAC 700 topped up and ready to go. With these three at my side I have no fear of running out of ink on vacation. (Or possibly the rest of the month. The ink capacity of these pens is terrifying.)

How about you?

Ditto. We're heading to Maine for several days, and I plan to take my TWSBI mini classic, filled. WIll also take one of my favorite Conways too, but for "field" use, the TWSBI will be it.

No travelling this year - but a six monthes "holiday" next year, with a writing project. Will try to keep pens down to five or six...

I take a reasonably sturdy, not too expensive pen with me, C/C with some carts.

Something like the Waterman Expert, or a Carène.

Plus a mech pencil for puzzles, and a BP for these occasions....

Just got back from a weeks vacation. I took a TWSBI Vac 700 and a TWSBI Micarta. No worries.

Lamy Safari and a dip pen.

I like to take a dip pen with me because I can then also take a zillion (maybe not quite that many) ink samples with me and still have a variety of color without having to take many different pens with me.

A Pilot 823 and/or another piston filler. I also have a Visconti Traveling Ink Pot if I'm away long enough to need more.

Always a tough decision between my Fountainbel bulkfiller and my MB 147 (2 cartridges) with its 6-cartridge carry case B) , when packing for a two-week holiday. Both utterly convenient, both excellent writers. My previous MB 145 (2 cartridges) no longer gets a look in

A dilemma that I hate every year. As we normally go by car though, I can take more accoutrements with me that I could should we ever go by plane. Still doesn't make it any easier though but this year I think I've narrowed it down a bit. A couple of Pelikans perhaps.

Maybe.

This year I brought along a TWSBI 580 (seems to be a recurring theme), a MB 149, and a Lamy Dialog 3. Ink wise I've got 4 bottles; 2 blue, 2 black, which was foolish, as now I can't wait to use something else! :D

None of my favorite workhorses is very high-capacity (last time: Webster Four-Star lever filler, Sailor HighAce Neo, and a Nakaya Naka-ai) but I have twice successfully traveled with a bottle of Noodler's Black, so that took care of that. :D

I tend to take a set of Lamy Al-Star -- extra fine nibbed fountain pen with either its matching ballpoint or rollerball -- when traveling, along with a couple of cartridges. They are reliable, sturdy and should something terrible happen to them, replaceable without too much fuss or expense.

I take 4-5 pens:

- A couple of nice writers for use in the hotel room or to carry in my daybag along with my iPad, Kindle and camera

- A carry-around - usually a beater or one I dont mind losing

- A "flight" pen - something with F nib, for filling forms, etc.

True bliss: knowing that the guy next to you is suffering more than you are.

Interesting topic. I just got back from vacation and had the following pens with me (not counting what I brought to DCSS at the end of the trip):

1) Parker 51, with Diamine Denim

2) Noodler's Konrad, with Noodler's Kung te Cheng

3) Noodler's Flex Piston Creaper, with Noodler's 54th Massachusetts

4) Rotring Art Pen (for sketching), with Pen & Ink non-shellac India ink

5) Kuretake brush pen, with Noodler's Georgia Peach highlighter ink

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."
