Cult Pens, the UK online retailer, has launched their own small pen made by Kaweco. All metal body, five nib sizes (XF-BB), international cartridges but takes converter despite its small size. Priced at £30.

We've always liked small fountain pens. What's not to love about a good quality fountain pen that can be with you all the time? We had perhaps the widest range of pens and pencils anywhere in the world, but we still hadn't found a mini fountain pen that had everything we were looking for. They never quite seemed to tick all the boxes for us.

We might be a bit on the obsessive side with pens[...]

Aw, gee, cybaea...I didn't need this link! Just one more thing on the list, now! I was actually wondering when Kaweco was going to come out with something new in their pocket pen line, and whaddayaknow?

I wish more that they had created a thicker acrylic model than a another all-metal. But the integrated clip is nice change!

Nice-looking pen. The folks at Cult Pens and Kaweco appear to have designed this FP keeping in mind the preferences of most FP users.

Does anyone know whether the nib-sizes are typical "Western" sizes? For example, is this pen's medium similar to a Pelikan medium or more like a Pilot medium?

The description says that it uses the standard Kaweco nibs (like the AL Sport, for example) so you should be able to find plenty of specimens in the reviews.

There's a choice of five nib sizes, from EF to BB. The nib is the same German-made steel nib from Bock that features in Kaweco's highly respected AL Sport, Liliput and Dia pens, among others; so not only is it a good quality, smooth nib, but it's easy to replace if it's ever damaged accidentally, or if you just decide you fancy a change of width.

  • 5 months later...

I got one from Santa :)

Really lovely, well made wee pen. Mine is an EF nib: smooth straight away and the Deep Dark Blue ink cart supplied is very nice too. Fits a Filofax Mini pen loop perfectly.

My Kaweco Liliput is classier looking though, IMO, for me more tactile, (because it is so rounded) and is a dream to use, but this Cult Pens Mini is well worth checking out. The clip will be useful to have on such a small pen, less chance of it accidentally slipping out of the pen loop. I have large hands and find them both easy to use/hold.
