I held one at the weekend when I ordered mine and it is incredibly heavy.....Suspicion of metal retraction may be correct as you cannot see the piston in the new pen.....from the pictures above. By the way I asked them to put an OB nib and they will.....cannot wait for it to come back from the obligatory trip to Hamburg.....

I finally had a chance to contact the MB boutique in Toronto, and was told that they are hoping to have the pen sometime in October. But no word on the Canadian MSRP.

The more I look at this thread, the more I want this pen. I can afford it but, the question is should I save my money to fill holes in my collection or splurge for this one? I guess I'm gonna have to go to my local boutique to see it in person.

I could not possibly word this better. The more I look at this pen, the more I want it... need to sell something first...

I went to the MB shop in Royal Exchange today to buy one, as Brandon says, at £725.

Beautifully made with a lovely nib action and filler system, took around 4 drops of ink, my 146 does 7 and my 149 at 11.

Smaller than I expected, but heavier.

I didnt buy it, I came away thinking that £725 would buy some very nice and vintage and would be better to use.

The nib retracts when the plunger is turned. to fill the pen, you pull the plunger one click and trun again to expel the air, then turn the other way to fill.

You also cannot cap the pen with the nib out.

Got an email from the Short Hills, NJ boutique manager saying that the price for the US and Canada will be 1100 USD. Might be better to purchase overseas and have VAT deducted.

Haven't seen such a buzz about a new MB pen for some time.

It seems that the 1912 is one of those pens that one has to see in the flesh before purchasing! I am fascinated by the sound of this filling system :puddle: Not sure I can hold out :crybaby: Must stop reading this thread :wallbash:

I've been trying to be good and use the ink in some of my already inked pens before filling mine. I don't think I can hold out any more and will be inking mine tomorrow. Like you I'm fascinated to see how it works and writes.

I should know but is this pen a LE, SE orRegular edition? I ask as I was disappointed by the price. In the UK it cost £45 more than the Balzac. This is something I did not like.

Im on the list for the boutique in Texas. They are stating a delivery date of October. I was quoted $1100.

The Balzac seems nicer than the 1912 to me, so I'm surprised it cost more. I don't know why, but the MOP MB logo looks almost cheap to me. Then again, I haven't seen it in person.

October? I'm on the list for the boutique in NJ and they told me at the end of August. I wonder if boutiques in certain areas of the country get them before others?

I would think that they would all get them at the same time. It seems a bit odd to have one shop receive stock two months before another. Im sure they are just odd in the way they do things.
