Journal Find At Barnes And Noble

I'll be going on a vacation soon and I wanted a journal to bring with me. I found an absolute treasure at Barnes and Noble.

To begin, it has a beautiful deep green, soft leather cover with an embossed Celtic Cross.

It holds 240 lightly ruled, cream-colored pages that are sewn together so that the journal opens reasonably flat. There's also a green ribbon page marker.

The pages are thick and while not Rhodia slick, they are smooth enough to be a pleasure to write on. Here's my pen check page:

Now, granted I use mostly fine point nibs, but there was no feathering, not even with my very wet Pilot VP medium nib.

Here the page is from the back -- no bleed and no shadow.

While this would be a little small for the every day journaling that I do at home, it is perfect for a cart about journal: the cover is 5 7/8" by 8 1/4".

For those interested, here's the Barnes and Noble link: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/p/home-gift-green-embossed-celtic-cross-lined-flexi-journal/26330450?ean=9781591772033 At least, I think that is the same journal: they have the size listed at 5 by 8 but I suspect that is an error.

That is really nice, Daisy. Let us know how it performs after you have used it for a while. I have found that sometimes B & N will pop up a surprise or two....

Hope this turns out to be one of those.

That journal does look very nice. Besides being addicted to FPs and ink, I'm horribly addicted to beautiful journals. Some of those journals on B & N online are gorgeous but expensive.

Yes, they are. And once a journal becomes too expensive and too pretty, it inhibits me. Mostly for my journal writing, I go for simple and plain. My current favorite for journaling is one of the new TWSBI notebooks, plain in appearance, good with my pens, reasonably priced. Still, every once in a while a beautiful journal is in order. I'll know more once I'm writing in it, but for now, I'm simply in love with this Celtic one.
