Two new pens (here on the right hand side of the picture) have joined my starting Pelikan collection (I'm focusing on the M100X and M80X models only) :

- Green M1000 with OB nib

- Green M800 with F nib

- Tortoise brown M800 with OBB nib

- Black M805 with a B nib (turned into a fantastic stub by a french relative... who's making miracles thanks to his passion)

- Black M800 with a M nib

- Blue M800 with a M nib (that will soon be sent for grinding transformation !)

My newest acquisition is a M805 with a custom Chris Burton Binde, This was a long time coming but now that it is in hand, I'm very happy with it. Next stop is a trip to Pendleton Brown for that butterline stub treatment.

I am frustrated that I can't figure out how to post photo's here, you'll have t o be satisfied with a link to my flickr photo page here.

Very nice one ! Congrats.

How long did it take between order and delivery ?

Did you send a pen to Cris Burton to be customize ? I can't get any information from him (seem busy).

Thanks, I am really pleased with the mod.

I corresponded with him first to make sure he had the material and could do the work. He said yes and so I then began hunting for the pen ( I didn't have one when I got the idea). I found a nice, gently used M805 for a reasonable price and sent it to him. It took just a few days shy of a year to get the pen back. I don't know why and he never said, but there were long periods when I would hear nothing from him. At any rate I have the pen now and find it really beautiful. The material is even more dramatic in person than in photos and workmanship is excellent.

I know that modifying a Pelikan is seen as sacrilege by some, but this is a rather common model so I don't feel that I am jeopardizing the existing stock of this or a hard to come by collectible model. The fact that I have one of these in the M605 line made it all the easier to go for this customization. As I said, when I first saw photos of a similar customization I was captivated. I don't see me customizing other pens, it's not something I immediately think of. I have a couple fist fulls of Pelikans and like them just as they are.

I have a couple more on the way (hopefully in the mail as I type) and can't wait to get them in hand. These, like most Pelikans are beauties right out of the box and I cannot imagine how they cold be modified to be 'beautiful-er'.

OK, let’s see if I can do this without making multiple posts this time (lesson learned, do your ‘practicing’ in the help forum) Here are a few pics of my most recent acquisitions:

An LE Originals of Their Time, the Jade model, pen #1509/4000 with an OBB nib.

Both of these pens have been on my lust list for some time. I passed up an opportunity for one of the Jade models last year and have been experiencing something like ‘non-buyers remorse’ since.

Recently I decided to renew my search in earnest. I contacted a respected Pelikan dealer. I asked about the differences between the Jade and Lapis models and within a couple weeks he got back in touch to say that he had just acquired a very nice example of the Jade pen I was looking for, …. and one of the Lapis models also. After considerable thought and a couple nights of tossing and turning I decided that this might be an opportunity to avoid another extended bout of non-buyers remorse. I bought them both.

Now that I have them in hand, I have no regrets; however this effectively ends my pen buying for the rest of the year. What a way to go out.
