Piscov, soaking it made the piston assembly come right out. Thank you!

Farmboy graciously took a look at it and... concluded that although it's a pre-war 100, there's no cork in it now -- instead it's got a worn out silicone seal and a non-metal piston assembly. i.e. his guess was that someone repaired it previously by replacing the whole piston assembly with a plastic / silicone one from Nishimura. If so, that'll make it much easier to repair. Not true-to-age, but easier. Although I suspect that I could hunt around for an age-appropriate piston assembly for a chunk-o-change... sigh...

I got my second Pelikan in the mail the other day-- an M215 in the Lozenge pattern, because I am a sucker for argyle. :)

Unfortunately, the M nib skips annoyingly unless you apply a bit of pressure, even after a thorough cleaning and a bit of 'brass shimming.' I'm not up for a more serious nib overhaul, so I decided to just swap the nib out with my M150 (my very first fountain pen!) that I don't use. The gold-colored nib on the silver-finished 215 isn't driving me totally bonkers (yet) because I'm just glad that it writes correctly.

Maybe I'll save up for a replacement nib for it. Is there a significant difference between the M2xx nibs and the higher-end ones that will fit in it? (M4xxs, for example). I'd spring for a higher-series nib if it was better, especially since the upper-end Pelikans, sadly, don't do much for me aesthetically so I'm not likely to ever buy one of those outright.

Not really a difference as far as I can tell except for aesthetics.

Just ordered a new 600 souveran in the red - I got this one to keep my green 600 souveran company... I just hope they don't gang up and pick on the M205. :D

My pink M600 arrived yesterday. The pink is a bit bolder than the pre-release pictures (on my screen anyway) and it's a beauty.

Do you like it? I was thinking about the Amethyst but I ended up finding a different brand with a music nib I wanted, so I went that way instead.

I am guilty of ordering another bird for the flock an M400 tortoise shell white. It should arrive today or tomorrow.

Thanks Christof.

Hi daeng,

nice pen case.

Are you sure, that a 100N Lizard existed? Or was it a 101N with a cap replaced by a black one?

Do you have price lists or other evidence, that this pen existed?

Thank you

Dominic

Thanks Dominic.

I do not have the price list/evidence to support the 100N lizard. However, Werner Ruettinger's website did indicate the existence of a 100N blue lizard pattern. You may want to ask him for details. Thanks.

I always had a Pelikan M600, but in black. While I love black and gold pens, when it comes to Pelikans I found I don't like that style that much. So I hardly used it. But then last month I saw a brand new Pelikan 600 for sale (under $300) in green with a fine point. Bought it with the intentions of selling my black pen. Then...someone in the house got a hold of my pen. The new fine point was stabbed into a moving box which resulted in deformed tines. I didn't mind that much, I had an extra nib for the 600 and equipped that into my pen. Also bought a 200 gold colored steel nib for it which I now put on my black 600.

The 600 is definitely one of my most used pens at the moment. I might be selling the black one in the near future with its "F" nib since I find the color not to my liking and the nib too close to a medium for me.

Around the same time that I bought the M600, I also felt the need to have a good quality, durable fountain pen that took standard international cartridges. Therefore I bought a Pelikan Pura. I got it in a fine point, but it writes even finer than my Pelikan extra-fine points (go figure!). It was a little scratchy but flowed very well. I haven't used it because it gets top heavy and that feeling of it getting caught in the paper bothered me. But I use it on and off. If I ever get another one, it'd be a medium.

You might replace the nib. The Pura has the same nib size as the Pelikano, Twist, Future, Level and some other Pelikans.

So a replacement nib would not cost much (~5€). You even can get a 18k gold nib that fits into it. (Much more expensive and hard to get of course ^^).
