18 carats (for French market) "K" (Kugelspitze) nib tip and a very confusing imprint "IMPORTÉ D'ANGLETERRE". What means: "imported from England!

Strange thing...

Hi Christof,

I also have an old-style nib inscribed with 18 KARAT. England and two hallmarks.

I guess that prewar 18K nib were mainly produced in England.

My most recent addition just arrived today and is extra special to me because it is the last pen that I required to give me a complete collection of M150's. This one was tough to track down. It's the black-green M150 in the new-style trim. This one has a single chick cap top logo.

Great to see that that pen has reached you safely sarge! I'm looking at the others you are missing each time I'm visiting a pen shop but no luck so far.

The family portrait looks great!

That's a nice family photo. Good work. What's your next project?

Received today from Singapore: a NOS M1050, with a black barrel and an M nib. Fortunately, I have a BB stubbed by Pendleton Brown that I can use in it. The vermeil cap is magnificent.

Rick Propas had one for sale at the LA Pen show in green, as I recall. It already had a BB nib modified by John Mottishaw. I thought about it for several days, but finally settled on a Danitrio as my "big pen purchase". You're making me regret that decision!

Thanks for your comment. Actually, this could explain the mistery, but I never have heard of England manufactured Pelikan nibs...

Did you?

Same project. Collecting every pen in the Classic Series. I've only completed the M100, M150, M205, and M215 lines. Still need a few hard to get M200 and M250's. The quest continues.

Hi Christof,

Please see this post (only in Japanese).

http://blog.livedoor.jp/nekopen23/archives/31629966.html

The nib also has "England" and two hall marks like yours (and mine).

A contributor says that after the nib was made in England, Pelikan responsibility mark (maker's mark) was inscribed at its factory, finally hallmark "weevil" at the French customs.

Thanks for the link. Strange nib too. Looks rather stiff, maybe "D" nib for doing carbon copies?

Thank you Tacitus. I've got the below 18K Pelikan nib (likely post-war, it came to me from a 400 tortoise), and have always wondered about the apparent hallmark. I'd thought it looked a little insect-like, and sure enough, I think it is the weevil customs mark you refer to from France. Very pleased to have this identified and confirmed by a few hits on a Google search.

Really nice family photo! The black-burgundy ones and the Bols demo are specially good looking, IMO.

Good luck finding the remaining pens, I'm looking forward to seeing a photo of the whole M2xx family.

An M805 demonstrator with a broad nib arrived yesterday. I haven't decided what ink to put into it, yet.

Not the first Pelikan for me, but it is the first M205. (The lighting makes it looks like gold trim, but it's silver)
