What's Your Most Recent Addition To The Flock?

Cap and section changed in mid 33 according to the "Pelikan Schreingarate" so this is probably a transition pen. If they still had parts, they would not trough them away, they would probably use it (hence the section)

I have spare 2 hole caps I could use but I´ll keep this original as I received it. Even the patina is homogeneous throughout the pen making me believe it was produce like this in 1933.

...probably you're right. I also tend to keep pens as they come.

I haven't added much to the flock recently and this most recent acquisition was not my own purchase. I graduated from the training program that I have been working in for the past three years and they gave me a most wonderful gift.

A new Pelikan M600 blue striped fountain pen with 14C fine nib. Currently inked up with Iroshizuku Kon-Peki. Perfect right out of the box.

I could not resist to this "Fernando Pessoa" backgrund.

Note: Fernando Pessoa is probably the most important Portuguese modern(ist) writer - 1988-1935. More on him here

Nice Pelikan, piscov!

And thanks for the Pessoa image. I would argue that he is one of the most important modern(ist) writers of any country.

Last I've received is the M200 Cafe Creme and I should be getting my M400 white tortoise tomorrow. I'm going to ink them both up soon - they're the first Pelikans not obtained from Richard Binder and not adjusted. Hope they're good straight from the factory.

Thanks BMG!! It´s really good to know that apart from interesting pens, great writers are also appreciated here!

The Pelikan M805 Demonstrator I won in the La Couronne du Comte giveaway....

Kind of a funny story... Early 2014 I first set foot in that shop. The first thing that caught my eye was the M605 Marine Blue special edition. That pen never left my mind...

This year, I went there to spend my birthday money, I still had the Marine Blue on my mind, but just before I was able to visit the shop, the Marine Blue disappeared from their website. I feared the worst... Then, when I was there, I told them about the Marine Blue, was greeted with a huge grin and was told there was one left, it even had the nib I wanted... And supposedly, it was one of the last 2 ever to come out of the Pelikan factory... This was pen destiny...

Now the funny thing was, that I was thinking of waiting for the M805 Demonstrator if the Marine Blue wouldn't have been available. It even was close of bumping the Marine Blue off its no. 1 holy grail spot. But that blue... it just spoke to me, so the Demonstrator became a close second...

So only a few weeks after buying holy grail no. 1, I get a call from La Couronne du Comte. First thought "why are they calling me? did I forget about some ink on backorder or something?". So I pick up the phone... And I'm told that I won holy grail no. 2... As I'm an experienced smart-ass, I'm not easily lost for words, but that did the trick...

... Never underestimate the power of human stupidity ...

and if they didn't have their own pens, I'm sure piscov will be able to loan each of them a really nice one. :)

Pessoa, of course, would get a demonstrator.

That´s a lot of pens, BMG and PMN :D ! Pessoa used more than 70 heteronims during is life! Off course I would be honoured to offer a pen to such a writing genius, but 70 would leave a big hole in the collection especially if all pre 1938 (year of is passing)

There is an interesting coincidence/connection with Pelikan pens:

Pessoa first enterprise was a small printing shop and publisher house called "Empreza Ibis" The name was after the sacred bird of ancient Egipt. Years later Pelikan would use the same animal to name a pen. An interesting coincidence.

Perhaps not as coincidental as one might think! As per Wikipedia:

The African sacred ibis was an object of religious veneration in ancient Egypt, particularly associated with the deity Djehuty or otherwise commonly referred to in Greek as Thoth. He is responsible for writing, mathematics, measurement and time as well as the moon and magic.[6] In artworks of the Late Period of Ancient Egypt, Thoth is popularly depicted as an ibis-headed man in the act of writing.

Yes, does looks like it´s not a coincidence but rather an informed choice inspired by the same popular "story"

Good point!

This 101 came with a funny nib:

18 carats (for French market) "K" (Kugelspitze) nib tip and a very confusing imprint "IMPORTÉ D'ANGLETERRE". What means: "imported from England!

Strange thing...
