What's Your Most Recent Addition To The Flock?

Just received my first modern Pelikan, an 800 green & black. I'm startled by its size, but it feels comfortable unposted. The nib, supposedly an extra-fine, is as smooth and fluid as I'd expect (black Quink) fbut puts down a surprisingly broad for its size (Japanese medium) line, It also lacks the spring and nuance of its older relatives. While not one of the exceptional models above, I like its classic design - like the always-elegant tuxedo.

Just beware the power of the flocks, they breed very fast :D. In the mean time, enjoy your pen.

Da Vinci and Matlock: thank you, both. With the borrowed nib form my 400 (Guenther Wagner inscription, as it so happens) it writes with a gorgeous flexibility now! It is going to get lots of use -- no museum-piece, this...

The first of you: I would love a jade, too!

The second: did you post photos of your gold-clad one somewhere else? I seem to remember...(and did I ask you whereabouts in Essex you are? I used to spend a lot of time near Colchester at my best school-friend's home!)

I did post a picture in the past. I used to work as a manager on the railway at Colchester, I live near Burnham-on-Crouch.

Managed to snapped up a pair of breeding Pelikans from a fellow collector. :)

Think these 2 were an elderly pair, both bearing the 2 chicks logo. The crazing of the porcelain glaze really adds the character to this nice pair.

Will try to take some photos of them with my pens next time.

In today's mail: an M805 rhodium-plated B nib from John Mottishaw, to replace a two-tone F nib that came with my 910 Silver Toledo many years ago. The new nib is buttery smooth and expressive.

So is the poor little duck in a state where the attorney general can't smuggle contraband controlled substances for the execution? Or is it fricasseeing duck season again?

On a trip to Germany I picked up a few birds at the Zeichen-Center Ebeling last week:

- M320 pearl F

- M200 Cognac Demonstrator F

- M215 Rings F

- M805 Stresemann EF

- M805 Clear Demonstrator F

Along with a bunch of Edelstein inks and a few other things (Leuchtturm notebooks, Lamys Al-star, etc.. but those don't matter here :) ). I would post a picture but I have no idea of how to do it.

Unfortunately these are the last birds until Christmas, since I already spent my "pen money" of the year many times over :( .

Anybody knows of safe inks for the demonstrator? Also, is it normal for M80x and M1005 demos to have ink trapped between the section ring and the the section itself? (I inked it with Edelstein Topaz, which I later read tends to stain. So, I cleaned it immediately: it didn't stain, but ink got trapped under the section ring).

By the way, I strongly recommend the Zeichen-Center Ebeling: excellent price, fast communication and excellent service. They held most of the pens for me for more than a month, and this includes the pearl, which by now is not so easy to find (needless to say, I have no affiliation, just a happy customer and I thought of letting people know of another seller with good prices).
