Cool pen!

Just a question: Is the nib unit screwed or pluged?

Luckily, it's screwed. If it was plugged, I'd be screwed... Haha~

My most recent addition to the flock is one of my grail pens: a minty Pelikan M450 green tortoise with vermeil cap. I had the chance to see this pen up close at a local B&M but somebody bought it before I had the chance to get the money.

Then, after losing many bids on Ebay I finally found one for a very good price at the German site:

It came with a very nice 18C broad nib that will need some tweaking, so I am presently using it with a M600 0.5mm binder stub I bought from a fellow FPN member:

I wish to thank FPN member risingsun for his help and encouragement in searching for this pen.

Beautiful pen! Purchased one years ago from a German site, than had Binder fit it with an ItalFine combination nib.

My new member of the flock: 400NN Tortoise w/ stub nib from Rick Propas (anniversary gift from husband). Gorgeous coloring, smooth writing (filled with Iroshizuku syo-ro). My new go-to pen.

I took a picture, but it's not very good (I'm so not a photographer)!

Pelikan M320 in Ruby Red with a B nib. I have the Green Pinstripe M320 and the Black with Gold cap. Now on the hunt for the Pearl M320. I love writing with these small pens. Heck...any Pelikan is a joy to write with. I took a photo but haven't figured out how to post it. Suspect I might not be able to do it on my iPhone.

My most recent addition is not a pen but indeed is a great addition to the flock. It is the not oft seen large green Pelikan pen stand.

It joins two large white and a blue bird as well as several smaller rests.

Love the green! Isn't it funny you would think that green would have been much more common If it is anything like blue one it is probably much more impressive in person.

Been a while since I shared a few of my recent additions, so this is a little bit of catch-up for me. There are a few others, but these will have to suffice for the moment.

2010 M800 Blue O' Blue. Wasn't sure how much I'd like this pen, but the opportunity to pick it up for a very reasonable price proved difficult to pass over, and I am quite happy with the pen. Currently running some Diamine Kensington Blue in it.

Next was an addition to my small 140 collection of the solid colors. I felt this Taylorix version of the 140 would be a welcome addition, and the fact that it is one of the earlier 1950's versions with the old-style clip (not a replacement, these Taylorix 140's came with both styles of clip, like this and the traditional beak style) makes it more endearing. Condition (as it the case for many of these Taylorix pens) is impeccable with a tiny bit of brassing on the cap ring. D09 nib code reflects a manifold-hardness on an extra-fine oblique...unusual.

Lastly was the welcome addition of an M250 Tortoiseshell Brown (this is the Levenger, 1997 issue of the M250). Getting an uninked example in the original Levenger outer box to help fill the collection hole is a treat. Love these derby cap-tops.

There is a rule in this forum that states: "Pictures or it didn't happen" which is another way of saying "We would love to see pictures of this pen". ;)

I have one of the small gold ones. I'd love to get a small blue one, but the table where I saw one at DCSS last year was using it as a display stand and it wasn't for sale. I'd even be willing to trade for it -- I have the original box for the gold one and everything (the gold is okay but a little over the top for my taste; the blue, OTOH, is understated and classy looking IMO).

Saw a silver one on Ebay recently, but the price just floored me -- *way* too rich for my blood....

I have pix of my new Café Crème, but not yet downloaded from my phone. Also, not of it inked up. I christened it with a fill of Diamine Anniversary Terra Cotta (which is very nice coming out of a broad nib, although very slow drying).

Found a nice turn up today at the Northern Pen Show in the UK, after checking a number of M800's and finding a myriad of Fine and Medium 18C's which didn't really interest I lucked upon this beauty, a 14C 3B in a black body. One very happy bunny here. It's only a quick phone snap I'm afraid.

Dear Sarge,

As I sit here looking at my Pelikan ashtray, typewriter ribbon boxes, ad postcards, metal boxes, ad reprints, action stickers, toy truck, and collection of Pelikan ink bottles in various styles, I ask myself "At what point does collecting 'ephemera' stop and collecting 'kitsch' begin? In looking at your aviary of colors and sizes, I feel you are the right person to ask.

@Dickkooty2: A fine question that could be a thread of its own. It is a question that I have wrestled with myself. I find my eBay watch list progressively getting filled with more of the items that you describe. I think that a few well curated pieces of ephemera representative of the brand and your interest is perfectly fine. I think that when you can fill a display cabinet full of various brand schwag/tchotchke's you have crossed the line into collecting kitsch. At present, I justify collecting these porcelain birds as a focused journey into collecting ephemera. Adding knives, lighters, pins, ashtrays, etc would push the collection into kitsch. Just my two cents. Happy to discuss it further backchannel or in a thread of its own.

Joshua and Dickkooty2, lest anyone accuse either of you of descending into that <dreaded> area of kitsch, I suggest that you simply give up on Pelikan and start collecting something much more interesting -- perhaps MontBlancmange, Dunghill or the Viscounts -- some brand like those -- and, meanwhile, allow me to look after your Pelikan flocks? They will be in good hands! ;^)

(I used to have a lovely photo of pink-backed pelikans nesting en masse in a lagoon in Kwa-Zulu...wonder where it is?)

This isn't my first 120-1, but it is with the packaging and the paper instructions included!

The pen writes like a dream! No wonder it was a popular pen. I think the design was developed for the IBIS. A second version was put in production in the 70s through M&K. You guys will know all this stuff. I'm just adding some background for sake of completion in writing a squib.

Note the airplane illustration under the 'airplane travel with your pocket full of ink' section. Vroom Vroom Vroom!.

The pen is from Yesteryears fountain pens 1912 they have a great selection of pens and related items!
