Never inked vintage Pelikan 100 w/ original cork!! It seems that some parts are missing, but

Fully working !! ...as a demonstrator

Um yeah, ........... you are going to want a particularly 'dry' writing ink for this one.

My latest is in transit, a 1950s era 400 with an OB nib. I didn't think I'd ever buy a green bird, but the nib was too yummy looking, and the older color striping is somehow more attractive.

Just catching up with this thread, now that the new pen is in the mail (although, it isn't supposed to arrive for several weeks since it's coming from Germany). I must say, that Dr. Codfish's little trinket is quite attractive. I've only seen the large pen stands in white, I think, and I really prefer the small stands, but the large blue one might just change my mind.

Hi,

I finally got a 450 pencil to go with the green ones.

They look great!! Is the pen 400NN?

Please visit my website Modern Pelikan Pens for the latest information. It is updating and correcting original articles posted in "Dating Pelikan fountain Pen".

Yes, I've included it in the picture just to highlight the purpose of the new arrival.

Its always nice to have a pod of Pelikans.

The 400 is my favorite pen, I love the nib and the atheistic are a timeless pleasure.

But being a engineering type, the pencil is my most commonly used tool.

So I am looking at extending my squadron.

Does the 450 use .7mm or .9mm fills?

I personally would like to find a Pelikan that uses the 1.18mm.

Somebody told me that the 550 uses 1.18mm but that in not confirmed.

Beautiful set, enjoy,

M

The older 450s use both .9mm and 1.18mm leads; however, the 1.18mm is the more commonly found version. The .9mm is a bit harder to find and commands a slightly higher price.

The problem i find with buying a Pelikan is that you end up wanting more.

Ive been on a Pelikan binge for almost a year now. I'm a careful and prudent shopper, but i have clearly over indulged and need to go on the wagon..lol..So far i've bought 2 M-800's, 4 M-600s, and 6 M-200s...these two Cognac Classic M200s are my pride and joy showing off their new M400 nibs from John Mattishaw at nibs.com. It's all the photos i have on my iPad for now, i'll follow up with more later.

True. And unlike Easterbrook Js, they're not exactly inexpensive pens to be wanting (and buying) more. :headsmack:

And I *still* want a blue striated. And that coffee & creme one that's coming out.

I love the look of those new Stresemann grey ones, but M800s are a bit too big and heavy for my hand. If they came in a 400 I would be seriously lusting for one of those as well....

+ 2. The M400 and M600 series are such perfect pens for me. I would be in real trouble if they released special editions of those series more frequently.

I'm with you guys. I'm kind of glad the Sressemann only comes in the 800 size. It's too big for me. I'd go broke if they made them in the 400 size. The M400 and M600 are the right size for my hand. But. They are expensive. I discovered that the M200 series is the same size as the M400 and going for around $100.00. They are piston fillers with steel nibs that write just fine. The great thing is that if you want, you can unscrew the steel nib and put in an M400 Gold nib. Sometimes they come up on eBay at a good price. Even with the cost of a used nib you still come in at less than half the price of the M400. I don't like to take my expensive pens out to work or meetings. I pack up the M-200's now.

But I really, really want the tortoise M400...hehehe...but I'm not allowed to spend any more for a while...lol..

I am a little embarrassed to admit my flock has gotten out of control, I'm at 11 and another 400 on the way!

I am planing to cull of the top end, probably right up to the 400

The nib on the 1000 is so big that I have to have a concealed carry permit for it! Its like a bicycle pump with a nib!

The 800 is a nice big, lots of bling up fount, but just not me.

Now the 400 Not too big, not too small, a nib to die for, beautiful looks, and built well. (like Marlene Dietrich)

And remember, Marlene would never steer you wrong!

Where are all these M450s coming from???

PS. Good for you! I'm just tortoise green with envy. ;)

Haha, I am definitely worried about that! I may have to take a hiatus from pen forums so I don't get tempted by the Stresemann! :P

Thank you! I've a vintage 400 too, and I found the brown much more honey coloured and with hints of green compared to the M800. While I adore both colourings, the M800 just fits my hand better :)

I'm never quite certain where I stand on the added gold decorations, but both of those pens are just lovely!

Mookli, what's that one on the right (black cap, white barrel with the zig zags)? I don't think I've seen anything like it before, but then I mostly know the striated ones (the ones that just sort of say "Pelikan") to me. And is the green one just to the left of it an M100? It looks a lot like mine, which I got a for a pretty good deal on Ebay last summer.
