Two '50-54 400's & an Ibis at a live auction.

One marked B had a D+M nail, the other OB marked on the the body.

Like the Ibis that I just got also, neither was nib marked to width.

The Ibis had no size mark on the pen.

The 400 nibs do not fit the Ibis, so the gold Ibis nib then is original, not a run away 400 nib.

From 400n up and 140's are nib marked instead of body marked.

Those are my first '50-54 400's and my first Ibis. I lucked out on the Ibis it had a gold nib....that was not when made standard. I'm pretty sure the Ibis was steel or gold plated nibbed.

Two were semi-flex, the other the D a nail's nail.

Nothing too exciting. Just a black 140, gold trim, with a ST nib, a red 140 with an OM nib and a green 100N with an OBB nib.

You guys make everything seem boring and commonplace.

Not too long ago, I received a nice little blue 140 from a fellow FPN user.

It looks more blue when against black:

And here's the whole flock, though there's a blue M600 on the way.

Recently acquired my first modern Pelikan, the M600 White Tortoise with a BB nib! I got it just in time for my birthday this week. I had gotten the BB nib as a contender for getting a grind by a nibmeister, and it is being sent to Mike Masuyama on Monday :)

This beauty arrived today. I believe it is a 1990-ish Toledo M700. I can't stop looking at it. I don't think it's ever been inked. I don't buy pens to not use them, so I will ink it up, but maybe not today.

Beautiful pen and beautiful color! I was noticing the calligraphy and it´s just something I would love to have on my Pelikan nib, however I know very little about nib customisation. May I ask if this is just a simple "stub" nib? If I wanted to have mine made this way, would I just ask for a stub or is it modified especially in other ways?

Very elegant and beautiful! And a pen without ink is a bird without wings...ink it and enjoy it :D

Oh my, this Toledo is just beautiful! What a catch.

Personally I got myself a nice M215 Ringe (circles) in mint condition. It sports a Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge (Utility Vehicles) engraving but for the price I paid that's no bother at all. Plain chrome nib size M writes beautifully.

According to Google its just slightly over 34 USD. An incredible find for an unbelievable price!

Congrats!

I'll say. That's less than I paid for a green/black M100 (according to Rick Propas, it's from the 1980s) with a 1 mm nib on the Bay of Evil.... and thought I was doing well.

The red tortoise Pelicans are GORGEOUS. Of course, if they ever made a blue tortoise, I'd probably embarking on a mad crime spree to pay for one!

I don't think I've EVER seen a Pelikan in the wild around here (my friend did get me that 200 with the Bayer logo on Freecycle last spring, though, so hope springs eternal...).

Sigh. I should really stop reading threads like these.... Too dangerous.

It is a factory broad nib. All I requested was simple stub customization from John Mottishaw at nibs.com. Nothing fancy or personalized. Thick downstrokes and thin cross strokes. I'm very happy with it. Edited by sargetalon

Joshua,

What ink are you using in your new pen? Nice pen by the way. I am considering ordering the same nib that you have.

The nib is fantastic and I highly recommend. The ink is iroshizuku kon-peki

The Lighthouse of Alexandria is here!!! Arrived this afternoon with the mail.

I just opened it. The package was massive! One would hardly believe it contains a pen. I have taken photos of the package but will take pics of the pen tomorrow with better light.

The pen is GORGEOUS and MASSIVE! It feels so wonderfully heavy and solid in my hand. The whole package was gorgeous, the glass dome and all. I expected the pen to have scratches or something as I paid only €1500 for it, basically 50% of the retail price, but it is brand new, never inked and scratch-free! It has clearly been lovingly kept in this store for years. So I could not be happier about this purchase. I feel I have been incredibly lucky to find it and especially at this price!

Now I am embarrassingly wondering whether it inks like other Pelikans hehe I´ve only ever used the Souveran with the turning piston mechanism, but not sure if it´s the same for this pen? I´ve sent enquires to the store just to be sure :)

I will write more in the days to come including pictures and writing samples once it is inked!!

A very happy new owner

Black 140 reverse trim, EF nib. The pen is in nice condition, except for a bit of a 'ring' around the body from where the posted cap has gripped for the last 60 years, otherwise a very clean pen. Fortunately for me the EF nib has slight flex, perhaps more in the 'springy' category and I've found the sweet spot where it will perform well in my hand.

A nice addition to my little string of 140's. I now have the black with gold trim, this one, the green stripe, the all green, all blue, and the burgundy. I suspect that this will slow my 140 acquisitions considerably. I would like to find a gray one, but I need to wait a few months before I post a 'wanted to buy', I will need to 'feed the pig' to be ready for that.

I suspect the tortoise, mother of pearl, yellow, and demonstrator models are out of my league.

anyway, these are fun little pens.
