My most recent Pelikan was my M1000 which I got for quite a fair deal from a B&M. They even include the small pelican pen rest for free.

I of course forgot to say the obvious: that is a beautiful pen!

After years of buying and using 20 dollar chinese made fountain pens (Duke, Kaigelu, Hero ...many of which I thought were more than decent) as well as Parker 45s and Lamy Safaris I decided to see what the fuss was about Pelikans two months ago and bought a 400NN EF in tortoise. It was beautiful and so light and well balanced compared to the other pens I had. In short order I had an 80s M400 in Broad and then a 140 in M and now another 400NN on the way. I now understand what it means when people warn you that the flock will grow!

I recently bought an 800 in a green striped finish with an Italic broad nib at a bargain price from Avalon Pens. I'm still struggling to get used to the line variations with the italic nib (my first), a problem which I think is complicated by my being left-handed. vinper

Ain't nothing wrong with using what works for you but, I echo your sentiments about the 400NN. Its perfect in my opinion. Its one of my favorite vintage models along side the MB 13x series. I also recently asked Pelikan if they ever plan on rereleasing the 400NN. They told me they are listening to suggestions but plan on continuing with the M101N variations. But, lets keep our fingers crossed that eventually they will rerelease the 400NN.

Congrats on your first! I don't own any modern Pel above the M600 size as I too much like the old ones but, I am seriously tempted by the M800 Tortoise since the tortoise Pels are my favorite. Here's to many more years of enjoyment with you M800!

The pen covers the name. It is the new formula Private Reserve Naples Blue. It has a lot of sheen with this pen. Basically it was new pen, new ink.

There's a new Naples Blue? The original NB is my go-to blue. I haven't bought a new bottle in 6 years as I stocked up then. It looks a lot deeper in color than the other's bright turquoise look.

I am waiting for a pink Pelikano to be delivered. When it is, I'm going to attempt to switch the nib with one from an old Pelikan script pen. Good times.

Pelikan 100 all in black with 18K nib (upper one).

As you can see, the logo is similar, but it is slight larger than usual 14K nib (lower one), and much harder.

It is engraved with "England" (hidden in the barrel).,
