Looks like an M400 body with an M200 nib and cap.

Welcome to the club and enjoy the pen.

+1. A bit of a franken-Pelikan but nice none the less.

Interesting. Do you believe it's a cross over due to the stripes? I would have thought some m200s would have shared the same pattern back in the day. Any info appreciated.

No, it's not a cross over. No M200 was ever made in a green striated version, even back in the day. I've researched this at length. As best I can tell, there have been 24 different variations of the M200 and they are as follows (Barrel/Cap);

-Grey Marbled, Black, Post-‘97

-Grey Marbled, Black, Pre-‘97

-Blue Marbled, Black, Post-‘97

-Blue Marbled, Black, Pre-‘97

Very cool thanks for the info. Franken-Pelikan it is. May have to upgrade the cap and nib to bring it up to spec :)

Wow. I don't know which one this is, a 100 or 200 demonstrator

That looks like the newer 2012 M200 Clear Demo limited edition. You can distinguish it from the older 2002 M200 Clear Demo because the 2012 edition has a transparent piston housing and gold banded cap top which differs from the 2002 edition. The M250 clear demo is identical to the 2002 M200 except that it has a 14K gold nib.

Thanks, I really like that character.

I think my favorite vintage Pelikan so far is the black 100 . I really love that flexible nib. That one I got it from Mr. Rick Propas. I have to say that the 400Nn is real nice too (I own the green on the picture and a Brown tortoise).

It seems to be a little known fact which I've seen cause serious confusion amongst people and more than a few misclassifcations.

I think I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between an m200 and an m400 tortoise brown. Hw can you identify from the pictures?

It's easy peasy when you know what to look for. The tortys do defy some of the style conventions of their time though and that can lead to confusion but they all reveal themselves in the end.

M200 Brown Tortoise

Made sometime between 1985 and 1997. This has a brown cap and piston knob. Old style derby cap top with a single cap band (old style M200's had two) and no trim ring at the piston knob. Also in keeping with the M200 line, the nib is gold plated stainless steel.

M250 Brown Tortoise (Middle Pen in the Pic)

Made for Levenger in the mid-'90's. This too has the older derby style cap top but now we have two cap bands so the cap keeps with the style convention of the time. The big give away here is the 14K nib and the trim ring at the piston knob.

M400 Brown Tortoise (Pen on the far right)

Made in the mid-80's. Like the M200, there is only a single cap band and no trim ring at the piston knob. Give aways though are the 14K nib and the newer crown cap top.

For me it's a M800 25 Jahre Nord/LB-LBS, pictures below next to it's other blue sibling. I fell in love with the M800's with the first blue one below (the 805) and just fell in love again today after inking my second M800, the Jahre Nord, with Visconti Blue. I'm sure there will be more 800's in the future. [Apologies for the iPhone photos - I'll take some proper ones at some point ;) ]
