PELIKAN - Too many birds in the flock to count. My pen chest has proven to be a most fertile breeding ground.

I'm much more fascinated by the bread loaves in your photo stream.

Artisan baking, another hobby which takes more time but less $$$ than FP's. If it counts, my most recent acquisition was a double batch of Parker house rolls for a neighbor's neighborhood wide BBQ in honor of his wife's birthday (they were a hit, manty turned into brisket au jus sandwiches!)

Actually I have made a few additions to the pen box, but not Pels. A couple English Duofolds and a nice little copper Esterbrook with a broad stub nib.

Just got 2 at a local mini-show.

A green marbled 200, and a translucent 205. My first Pelikans :) so I just joined the Pelikan club.

But I need to get new XF nibs, as the B nibs on the pen is too FAT for me.

It's all because I live in a time zone where is a six hours later.

That may be but I suspect that the pickin's are a little richer in your neighborhood than mine. Here if a building is 50 or 75 years old, that's considered 'really old' and an 'old' pen is maybe a ball point from the 60's. Anyway, keep at it, gives me hope and no small amount of vicarious joy.

My new M1005 arrived today but it's a bit of a hard starter. Pelikan really needs to start addressing the issues with their factory nibs, as I've had these sorts of faults in several M1000 variants now. Once it starts on the page it writes with a broad, wet line with reasonable nice variation from brown to orange and the occasional fleck of pulp but I can't get over the baby's bottoms. Can anyone recommend a nibmeister?

I would send a new M1005 enormous "carat" nib to Pendleton Brown. His work is wonderful. I just received a beautiful Pelikan Ibis with an OB that is smooth as glass (which I love), but which skips on the down stroke (which I do not). PB will have it purring shortly. He has tuned or modified several nibs for me, including two Sailors that were nearly "unwritable". Now the are superb. The rest are Pelikans that dearly love. There are other fine nibmeisters. But, I can vouch for PB.

I hear that folks have been having good results with Bugs Bunny. He is not afraid to dive right in there and chew away any excess. His schedule is erratic, however, because of the persistent persecution by a guy w i f f a w i f l e.

Yesterday, I finally joined the club with my very first Pelikan arriving in the mail. It's a 1990s NOS M200. I was surprised at the lightness (compared to my visconti) and the flex in the nib. Going the through the usual run in with an unused almost 30yo nib but I am starting to love the precision of the writing experience. This will probably push me over the edge to make my next pen a newer m400.
