Father: Noodler's bulletproof black. My gift to my father for his birthday was a fountain pen and Noodler's bulletproof black. I wanted something he can write his checks with :) and prove my mom wrong in that you can use fountain pens to write checks!

New word: demonstrator

I forgot this when I was going to make my last post, but welcome to FPN and the Ink Association Game! http://i.imgur.com/JjxGfuM.gif

Hmmm... Racy would have to be J. Herbin Rouge Opera - a rich and exciting red.

New word: Companion

Noodler's Old Manhattan Black. I like it and it's the only bottle of ink I've ever taken around with me and refilled away from home from.

ESTRANGED

Estranged: Montblanc Irish Green. As much as I had originally wanted the ink, once I had it I quickly discovered I don't really enjoy using it.

Creative: Diamine Yellow. It took someone far more creative than I to create a bright yellow fountain pen ink.

I was the same - disappointed with how I felt about it. I've have just returned to it and while, it's not a favourite, I'm less antagonistic. I have found the nib width, flow and paper make a massive difference to the colour (more than normal) and I can go from hating it to loving it. Aaaaah, relationships.

Tune: Pelikan Edelstein Topaz because it dances on the page

New Word: Egg

Toucan Gold because it was the same color as the yolk on the sunny side up egg I had yesterday.

New Word: Toss

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

Great reference. I was thinking of the shell when I wrote that, but the yolk is much better!

It seems like I could say the same for so many of my ink purchases

Maybe I should just dedicate myself to writing all my current bottles to the bottom :D

Iroshizuku Asa-Gao. There's just something tantalizingly dangerous about tossing an expensive and elegant bottle of ink up in the air and going to catch it on its way down.

...maybe I need to get out more.

ISOLATION

Tossing Asa-gao?! Arrgh, please be gentle with that most beautiful of blue inks.

Isolation: Iroshizuku Fuyu-syogun. Grey. Old Man Winter. Had it lying around for more than a year. Wanted to find the perfect occasion. Finally inked a pen with it. I suspect it may go back to the ink drawer for a long while. I guess that's the risk of having so many brighter, bolder inks.

New word: cornucopia

journaling / tinkering with pens / sailing / photography / software development

Cornucopia: Does saying all of the inks in my collection count? If I open my ink drawers and just look at all of the bottles, a sense of well-being and wealth settles in... Maybe I should pick just one ink, it wouldn't do to be accused of not playing fairly. Caran d'Ache Saffron, the shading covers pumpkins to red apples.

Night club = Sailor Nano Kiwa-Guro Black, like writing with black velvet.

New word: Exhausted

(because I am)

I am no longer very active on FPN but feel free to message me. Or send me a postal letter!

Exhausted = Quink Washable Blue. Because it's the most tired looking faded out ink I know of.

new word: screen saver

Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Thanks!

It's so fun to read these ink associations :)

Screen saver: Diamine Ancient Copper. Because last time I used screen saver was during Windows 98 era and I would stare at the maze screen saver until computer found the exit. I always remembered the walls in the maze to be reddish brown and I think Diamine Ancient Copper is like that.

Evil: Diamine Teal, but only because I have read Norman Mailer's The Castle in the Forest and the Teal reminded me of the book's cover.

Holy: Private Reserve Plum - a colour that reminds me of Sunday school lessons about Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Don't worry, it's never gone far above my hands! :D

Yeah, it is! :D

New Word: Energized

Baystate Blue. I don't think there's an ink I've seen that has more energy. It's that kind of electric power that I imagine when I try to visualize my ideal blue. It seems like it's pretty hard to find something that aligns perfectly with what we have in our minds, but BSB does that (and has other "qualities" in accord :glare:)
