New word : Stiletto

Stiletto has two meanings. If we're talking about the dagger I'd have to go with something grey.. maybe De Atramentis Siver Grey. If we're talking about women's shoes… maybe Private Reserve Velvet Black.

J Herbin Bleu Nuit This ink was the first "special" ink I ever found it made me realize that there was far to ink then simply pen fuel. What I love about this ink is is that looking at the work I write in it reminds me of the night sky that sense of amazement I used to have when I was a kid thinking about how vast the solar system is and how small we are relative to the rest of the world. It is essentially like writing with the night sky.I use it pretty much all the time easily my favorite ink.

Oxymoron: Diamine Umber - my expectations based on the name contradict the green colour of the ink.

The butterflies I saw first, and most often as a kid were the Royal Admiral with the orange dots. I'm going to go with Caran d'Ache's Saffron, since it's the only orange ink I have, and it shades just as well as AS.

This was a little tough .... but from a famous interview:

But while he may not care to read fiction, he does desire to write it, and the long lacquer table was loaded with overfilled ashtrays and piled pages of his most recent creative effort, which happens to be a film script entitled "A Burst of Vermilion.”

So, Diamine Vermilion

That was a nice little link there Amberlea :)

And Inkspot, that's a tricky word to associate inks with

The best I can come up with for laterality is an ink that has such a heavy sheen that there's virtually nothing left of the original actual colour. The only such I ink I have experience with to date is Diamine Majestic Blue. I really love the blue, it would be my favourite blue ink, but the sheen spoils it all for me. I blame the cheap blue biro I used years ago that was incredibly sticky and clumpy and also had a red sheen. Now I'm not really sure if that's the best interpretation of laterality... oh well.

Another tricky one to answer, simply because I can't think of an ink that matches a cockroach's colours. The closest I can think of is Diamine's Ochre after it has been left several days in a pen that dries out quickly. The nib creep turns a dark crusty brown, the ink writes more russet before settling down to its more golden tones once things are flowing the way they should be and the ink's fresher.

I remember seeing one of these as a child. I can't recall the exact colour but I think it's something like Pelikan Edelstein Topaz.
