Parker Premier - Deluxe

I recently bought a used Premier - the all black version, which I had wanted for years. It had damage (clip missing), but the nib is sound. It is definitely a pretty pen, even with the clip missing, and it writes well. But I just can't get enthusiastic about it. I'm not feeling the love. Perhaps my expectations were too high, as I really wanted to like it a lot. Still, I'm glad I got it (and no, now that I've seen it in the flesh, I'm sure I wouldn't like a pristine version very much better).

I'd find it hard to love a damaged pen, too. In fact, if my first experience with a model was a damaged version, I probably wouldn't care about any good ones later, either.

This pen is still on my wish list. Not this finish, but maybe the gold and brown one. They're just so pretty.

I collect pre 60's Parkers, love Vacs and 51's etc, but not overly enthused with modern stuff, BUT this one could grow on me.

Great review.

My favourite Premier is the Deluxe Gold Plated version which, I understand, is not available in the USA. I don't understand the attraction of the all black version - to me it's just a mass of blackness, does nothing for me.
