My problem is, this thing seems airtight, and no ink comes out even when I push the plunger down. I suspect there's a simple procedure here that I'm just not getting

you have to engage the shaft threads to the piston seal which is parked at the knob end of the pen. Once engaged, the air/water will eject as you operate the shaft. It is a syringe filler.

Hi Penmanilla,

I think Hari is right, you should dis-engage and unlock the anchored piston first before you can effectively the piston down.

The user guidelines- which were included with your pen- provide a detailed "step by step " filling procedure.

Please use this procedure and I'm sure everything will become clear.
