I really like green inks. For a while, I wrote down everything with green inks and Sailor Jentle Epinard and J. Herbin Vert Empire was my favorites.

So here is a J. Herbin Vert Empire ink review. You can also check the link for bigger photos http://www.banasikcayaz.com/2012/10/j-herbin-vert-empire-ink-review-j.html

Thanks for the review. It's timely. I just got a new Pelikan M600 Souveran with the green stripes and was thinking a green ink would go great in it. That there is some water resistance to the ink seals the deal.

Thank you very much. It is quite a calming green.

Another great piece of research. Thank you very much for sharing it with us.

Yes it is quite a cool green. It reminds me of a bluish Viridian Green or even Cobalt Green light in watercolours.

The test was done in photocopy paper which is a great test for feathering. I wonder what would look like on a smoother higher quality paper. My guess is that it will bring out even more the colour.

From the other samples on the page I do prefer Aniki Amazonas but then I always tend to go for warmer colours.

Kind regards,

Rui

Another great review and this colour looks like one I will have to try out. It reminds me of my recently-purchased Akkerman Zuiderpark Blue-Green of R&K Verdigris.

Thank you! To me it looks more like the first photo you have on your site, more dusty (white balance is tricky); it's one of my favourite inks, the only thing I don't like is the small amount that comes in the bottle... For the price. To me this ink says "serious business" and looked perfect coming out of a black Waterman Lauréat... But it seemed to leak so it now has a home in a humble but perfectly flowing Muji...

By me it is more murky, closer to MB Swift.

Nothing against murky Green. A fine poster did 30 murky greens...so I'm glad to have two.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

Thank you very much.

I generally prefer photocopy paper since it is available for everyone and that makes people enable to understand what it should be like in other paper...

Thank you very much. I don't have Akkerman Zuiderpark Blue-Green but obviously I skipped comparing it with R&K Verdigris even though I have a bottle of it.

White balance is always tricky. And you are right, it is a bit of dusty as in Possier de lune.

The bottle is small in price wise and in design wise. It is quite hard to fill in some piston pens such as Pelikan M800...

Montblanc Jonathan Swift, another green ink that I forget to put in comparison list even though I have a bottle :(

I think I need to organize my inks by color groups, not by brands

Thank you ravantra,

I really like Sailor Epinard, one of my favorite greens. Vert Empire is a bit more dusky than Epinard.

I tried a sample of this and liked it quite a bit, but agree that it would be nice if it came in the larger size bottles. Your images are making it look more bluish than I was getting, though, on my screen: I don't think I would have tried it if I had seen the review first.

One thing I did notice is that after a week or two the color seemed to fade and muddy on the paper. Have you had the same experience? I can't tell whether it's that the Piccadilly paper sketchbook that I use for my ink journal (it does seem to do weird things to inks in general) or if Vert Empire is just not very UV resistant, or both, or something else entirely is going on.

Dear Ruth,

Thank you for your great comment. You are right, it is actually a bit faded on the paper but so far I did not experienced anything like fading away by time for Vert Empire. But I will definitely check it out.
