If anyone can contact one of the online retailers, (Goulet's, IsellPens, JetPens, Cultpens, MissingPen) it would be really really helpful to get a table of the ink manufacturers, ink names, and ink colors. The thought is if we can get a spreadsheet with that information, we would save hours and hours of typing and then we would add our information (image locations, and fade results).

If we could get hold of a consistent (!) set of swabs then I could easily make a good first pass with the same (but corrected) method I used to sort all the Diamine inks: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/250366-all-diamine-inks-compared/?do=findComment&comment=2743440

Anybody know if Mr Goulet’s swabs are available for download and if he would mind if I sorted them? They are probably the most consistent set and would cover a good percentage of the inks used. We don’t need to republish the swabs, just a long table with the names, category (categories?) and of course a link back to the Goulet web site.

I am no longer very active on FPN but feel free to message me. Or send me a postal letter!

Any help would be appreciated.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

So.... here are some early results.

I took two boards and posted them up in the office. Each ink here has an additional sample at the caboose.

As you know, I "encourage" my children to use fountain pens, and I "strongly encourage" their participation in my inky experiments. Here is a short story about how my children respond to those inky encouragements.

What an absolutely hilarious story.

I am currently imagining what sort of set-up one might have to construct to pin a child to a window ... ;)

Hmmm .... the possibilities ...

Thank you! He's a big kid so even though the window has a small shelf, he won't fit.

You need to invalidate the Noodler's Black Eel lines on my pages.

I just inked up that sample in a pen, and it was a much different and darker color than I had on those fade test pages, even when written on the same paper. I have to conclude that I must not have adequately got the water out of the pen's feed I was using to dip and write the fade test samples. I have not had any similar surprise with any of the other inks I dipped for the fade test and subsequently inked; I don't think it was a systematic error. But that one ink is definitely screwed up on the fade test sheets I made.

When I was a practising Large Format Inkjet Printer technician, I found that there was an inverse relationship between the permanence of those inks (which tend to come in 1 litre containers) and how hard it was to get off me. The long-term permanent inks came off fairly easily, whilst the cheapy 'fade in a week in a sunny window' inks took several days to come off my hands.

So, here is what the caboose looked like in December 2012, just before the subjects arrived.
