Aikin-Lambert Relationship To Knabe Pianos?

Hi folks,

I've picked up a nice, shiny BCHR Aikin-Lambert lever filler at auction. The only real oddity is the logo of the Baltimore-based "KNABE" piano company imprinted in green on the top of the cap (See pics, below). According to Wikipedia, this is a version of the logo that came into use around 1904:

The imprints on the clip (PAT'D Sept.25.05) and (ALCo) seem pretty common, as soes the engraving on the nib (14KT ALCo). The barrel has no markings at all, and the only marking on the cap is the pictured logo.

My question: Does one regard this as a "Knabe" branded pen, as a marketing imprint (for giveaway,) or as a "property of" marker?

Any info welcome :-)

Thanks,

Jonathan

It seems likely this pen may have been given to customers purchasing one of his pianos. A quality gift to match the pianos price.

I have a pen which I posted on this forum a few days ago with LEADER on the barrel and learned this is an Aiken and Lambert.

They came as a boon, and a blessing to men,
The Pickwick, the Owl and the Waverley pen

Sincerely yours,

Pickwick

Thanks, guys. I'll keep my eyes open for more info. In the mean time, the pen is soused on Florida Blue and will be re-introduced to meeting rooms and conference tables. Afraid I don't have a piano to match, tho ;-(
