i am new to fountain pens!! i use a waterman harley davidson and a pierre cardin masterpiece! once blue and one black! i tried camlin inks( blue and black) tried waterman cartridges(blue) and schneider cartridges and pelikan cartridges! the piggest problem is most of these inks are tending to fade! even camlin.. since i use it to write records these are increasingly becoming not suitable for my work!! i just started falling in love with fountain pens and threw all my ball pens away! please suggest me a long lasting ink!! thanks in advance!!

If you can use bottled ink then you can try Pelikan Fount India, Diamine Registrar's Ink, Platinum Cabon Black or Sailor Carbon Black.

Dear Nighil

Bril blue is the most saturated blue ink available in India( among indian companies). Buy one bottle of luxor hightek ink and add to one bottle of bril ink and you get a nonfading ink at cheap. If you can spend more money buy PR dc supershow blue from william penn. Enjoy.

Also, check Pens Avenue and William Penn for a good selection of ink.

William Penn carries Montblanc Blue Black, which shouldnt fade. They also carry Sailor Jentle and a large collection of Private Reserve and Pelikan Edelstein inks.

Pens Avenue has a very good range of Diamine.

^^ The one thing to keep in mind about DC Supershow Blue - the blasted thing simply doesnt dry, atleast not on Clairefontaine or Rhodia with my M/B nibbed pens. Great if you have a dry-writing or fine pen, not so good with wetter, broader nibs.

Sailor Jentle or Edelstein's blues might be a little better on that front.

First I think you may have seen Pelikan Edelstein ink at that price. And that is a quite high...but air mail is expensive and the bottles are thick and don't hold 60 ml I think...I tossed my boxes...and live in Germany where 4001 costs €4 and Edelstein €13...more expensive in the states and by you.

4001 should be cheap, in they cost their price to various markets.I have heard it's cheap in Singapore.

With 4001 it depends on how good your paper is. On cheap paper with a F nib, many find Pelikan black a gray. Try an M nib.

I find it a nice black, but don't use black inks.

Blue has a reputation of fading...it is a washable ink.

Violet is a very good violet, the brown is reddish brown, I like the green..it shades on good to better paper..Those would not be work inks.

They have a blue-black too, that many like. That should be a good work ink.

Your fellow countrymen would know your local inks much better than me.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

You wont be happy with the bril black. Its pale. I think I have mislead you. I was mentioning bril blue only, for black Camlin is better.

Where did you purchase Clairefontaine? I am keen to get them.

Did you bought anything from pensavenue? (How is your experience from them?)

No, not yet. I wanted to suggest the ink to the OP, whereever he buys it from.

I buy Diamine directly from UK, shipped to India.

In case you wish to write to me, pls use ONLY email by clicking here. I do not check PMs. Thank you.
