Italian Pen Silver Makers Marks

jar

Recommended Posts

I thought it might be useful to build an index of the Italian Sterling silver Markers marks. This might be helpful particularly in identifying pens made for other labels, for example sold as Levenger pens.

I have identified a few over the years but it is certainly a very incomplete list.

Here are the ones I've identified so far.

Italian makers marks

Aurora
5TO

Stiplula
982FI
1770FI

Montegrappa
1055 VI would signify the older Aquila owned company.
1140 MI those products made during the Richemont phase.
2670 VI current Aquila owned company.

Ferrari da Varese
320VA

Grifos
73AO

Visconti

1425FI

Aqulia Brands

87 CE

The Makers mark will be found close to the proof stamp and always begin with a star ☆, numbers and then two letters.

If any of you have Italian pens that have a Sterling silver component could you please look and see what the makers mark happens to be and post it in this thread?

Yup, thanks for pointing that out. IIRC there are about 50 Provinces identified for Italy.

You have some pre first Aquila ownership Montegrappas I think. Any chance of checking on the makers id on those?

Took a look at my Deltas. I think it's 1CE, but I can't entirely rule out 7CE. I need a better loupe for this.

I think omas is ☆144BO or ☆114BO but I'm not sure.

I've been looking at sterling OMAS pens and they appear to all be stamped 144 BO (which I suppose would stand for Bologna).
