Okay, here is mine (it may look pinker than the original because I wasn't up to trying to tweak the scan, other than cropping it in order to it fit in the 1 MB size limit). The paper is Clairefontaine Triomphe 90 gr.

Still thinking of doing the anti-romantic one/hate mail (not quite "love lost but self-regained", it's the lyrics to a song I like) -- but that's going to have to wait until El Lawrence becomes available again (it's about as 180° from Yama-budo as I can think of anyone getting... ;)).

A quick assessment -

Everything is going to sort itself out. Go on vacation and enjoy yourself. Leave all the chaos at home.

You need to lighten your load.

MisterBoll was thinking of making categories, but alas he stopped at two or three. A few of them were hilarious (I did one, which was "if you can't live without me why aren't you dead yet").

Yes, that's to you, MisterBoll. I really do wish you'd come up with more categories. I'm bored and I can't write psychopathic bully letters to people. :P

Well, the guys got here to bore the hole for the new line around 2 hours ago, and they've gotten between a third and halfway through the yard, so things are apparently going well at that end. Of course, the gas company *also* showed up and apparently screwed up the valve at the street. So they will have to come out and shut off the gas *again* in about a month to replace the value. And the sidewalk (which *they*, not the plumbers, damaged)....

Of course, our regular plumber called the guys doing the line replacement and basically threatened them to stay out of our town. :yikes:  Well, what did he expect? He was going to be doing a standard trench job for something like three times the price *and* take at least two days in the process. And we *did* tell him that we were getting three different bids.... Sheesh.

To Ruth - good luck with all the gas line stuff. It'll work out fine. Better this happens now instead of latter.

To Madame DuVent -

i need your love like a fish needs a raincoat

my world is beautiful when you're not in it

you're the icing on my cake

i have enough on my mind without you

the house is haunted by the echo of your last goodbye

forget that girl

the three most important things to me - love, love, love

Would you like to see my cynicism or my romanticism? I can do both :P.

Wow -- these two remind me of a guy I dated on and off for a couple of years in college. The first breakup was absolutely devastating (I was 20). The second time was after we got back together 10 months later and then broke up again in about 3 weeks. *That* time I ended up feeding the dinner I cooked him to a friend of mine, and then, throwing his marijuana pipe in Long Island Sound the next evening when I found he'd left it in my dorm room.

Okay, well, I throw like a girl, so the pipe only went about 2-3 feet into the water, but it was the *principle* of the thing. And I felt SO much better after that. I guess it really was "love lost and self-regained" at that point. (And my friend Bill was happy for the free food.) Years later I was at a picnic concert with my husband and his brother & sister in law, and I'll swear I saw the guy across the field from where we were sitting. I didn't even bother to gloat. Wasn't worth my time.

That particular ex is, however, *not* worth wasting even cheap ink on.... LoL Or even a ballpoint, for that matter. Maybe a broken no-name brand crayon, on a sheet of Walmart looseleaf paper.

Naaah.

We all have those break-ups where we go "thank GOD that's over".

And wal-mart looseleaf does function as writeable paper with very fine nibs! So don't waste paper :P.

Oi vey. I do hope we're not bringing pasts best left forgotten.

You broke my heart so I busted your jaw.

Not really sure what this is about but think I will get the hang of it

Here we celebrate love - which is free flowing and requires no discipline and order. It just is.

  • 5 weeks later...

My ink bottle has arrived and what better use but to contribute to this thread?

On the other hand I have been learning copperplate script for the past couple of months ( and struggling with it as you can see ) but practice makes perfect.

The ink is just gorgeous and even my wife likes it.

From a poem by Luis de Camoes, a famous Portuguese poet.

Kind regards,

Rui

Wow. I would be extremely happy if I could ever produce something like that. You say you've been learning for a couple of months, but presumably your starting point was already a pretty advanced level, yes?

Also, how long did that specific 27-word sample take to write -- i.e. what is your Copperplate words-per-minute? Could you see yourself doing "everyday" writing (journaling, letters, etc) in Copperplate?
