Will This Come Off?

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if this is ink on the section of a Montblanc Starwalker Rubber/Metal fp. I asked the seller specifically about it and he could not provide more direct info, as I was wondering why it wasn't simply removed before selling: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300919548876 If it is something that cannot be removed (Noodler's golden brown ink?), then it would be better to know about it sooner rather than later.

And my second question has to do with authenticity--sorry to be sneaking this in, since I know many people are tired of answering these kinds of questions! any help would be much appreciated. Does it look real or fake? And this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/261227387489?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 ?

(I would get it in store rather than deal with ebay, but it's twice as expensive there...)

In the first pen linked to, the rubber doesn't seem to have that nice textured/mottled look on the authentic Starwalkers, but it could be due to the bad quality of the photos. The seller provided a serial number for it. Otherwise, any comments or suggestions? I've looked at the guidelines on penboard.de...

I couldn't tell you if there was in on the section, but if there was ink there on one of my pens I would try to get it off with 10000-12000 grit micro-mesh. I use it for taking dried ink off nibs and ink/ tarnish on pens made of silver, so I don't see the difference with the metal section. I'm not so familiar with this pen, so I can't tell you much about it's authenticity. Good luck when you purchase one.

Two things worry me.

1) They don't show a clear photo of the staining so it is impossible to judge what it is and how extensive it is.

2) They state that it "may come off with polish".

I'd avoid this pen even if it means paying a bit more for a better one. If you are considering it, I'd ask for a close up photograph of the staining and ask them exactly what caused it and why they haven't tried to remove it. They are either lazy (not to clean it), ignorant (how to clean it or what it is) or lying (about the extent of the staining and efforts they've taken to clean it) about this stain.

Okay, thank you for your responses. Yes, I was a little put off too by the fact that the seller didn't have more info, but it looked like otherwise in new condition...I will wait until another one comes along.
