I think you could have found a nicer deal, but this is just the world of fountain pens.. I don't think you've overpaid very much so don't worry too much about it, and enjoy the pen!

Piston fillers are great, especially the Delta ones with their ratchet!

I decided to go for it (this is my first expensive pen purchase since my Custom 823), and ended up winning the auction for a new medium nib Medium DV for about $439 (including $12 shipping).

Hopefully this was a good deal.

I decided not to go with the oversize, because I figure if the Medium rivals my Custom 823 it's plenty big enough, and I mostly wanted the OS for the eyedropper--which apparently is not all its cracked up to be. I've never owned a piston filler before either.

At $427, I've already decided I won't be taking this one out of the house/office very often.

... And I just looked at Amazon and saw the same pen for $395 + free shipping. That's what I get for being ... generous ... with my eBay max bid, I guess.

Still, I'm excited. This'll be a great pen. I got it to reward myself for making it through General Chemistry I, which I just finished in 4 weeks (summer course). That was ... unpleasant.

Delta have one of the nicest piston fillers. It has a ratcheting mechanism so you can't screw it too far while raising it (i.e. sucking in ink or water), though one could still damage it while flushing the ink/water as it only ratchets at the full "up" position and not at full "down".
