Cheap And Nice Storage Box For 3 Fountain Pens

Quichito

Recommended Posts

I would like to show you a little box that I made to storage 3 fountain pens at my job.

Unfortunately I didn't take any picture during the making process, but at least I can show you the finish.

The materials are very cheap and took me only one hour to make it:

- little cardboard box that was hanging around my home

- a piece of cardboard to make the inner tray

- 6 drinking straws to make the compartments

- Adhesive velvet

And now... let's go with the pictures:

Closed box (beautiful engraved)

Hope you liked it, best regards.

Looks amazing, especially for the amount of time and money spent.

RMN, you should be able to buy adhesive felt at your local crafts store; I don't know what it would be called in the Netherlands, but the employees there should be able to point it out to you.

In Spain you can get it on DIY or school materials shops

Here is a picture of the adhesive velvet (synthetic)

A clever piece of work. Thank you for sharing. What do you keep your pens in at home?

Thanks (and Hoovy too...)

With a visual like this you know what to look for. And in many colours too, almost like ink... :)

Pavoni.

I use to store them in their original cases, but often I use a hand made pen-wrap to store 7 FP (a great gift from a good friend of mine):

Your storage box turned out very nicely, Quichito. What a great use for a rather good looking cardboard box, some drinking straws and only an hour of your time. Thank you for sharing your ideas and photos with us.

In addition to adhesive velvet or felt, you can also get adhesive suede in many colors, for those that want more choices for their pen cradle fabrics.

  • 3 years later...

Ran across this thread yesterday while browsing the web for a storage/presentation box that would hold a couple of pens and look good sitting on my desk.

After seeing your cool homemade creation I decided to save the $ and make my own.

Materials:

Empty box from a cigar store............cost: $0.00

Some leftover packing foam.............cost: $0.00

Scrap of velvet..................................cost: $0.00

Total cost: $0.00

So, a BIG tip of the hat to you for your inspiration on this project.

Here's a few shots of how the final box turned out...

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
