I have been hunting for a Black Namiki Yukari Royale for some time. (After Pam Braun closed up, prices are hard to digest) LOL

Beautiful pen and great review....if it has to be a converter, the Namiki vac converter is the best! Also makes cleaning it easier, in my opinion.

I totally forgot about the promised size comparison picture of a Namiki Yukari, so at long last here it is beside a Montblanc 149:

There's no large difference in length but in girth. The Yukari is more on the slim side, though of a nice substantial weight due to the brass body.

Fantastic review - one question, do you get any problems with ink staining the section when you refill it?

Thanks

I shall answer the question for Mkim since I own two Yukari Royales, one in black and the other in vermilion urushi. The sections can stain with regular Pilot ink (Blue and Blue-Black) during refilling but the staining can be prevented if one cleans the section quickly with a wet tissue. Iroshizuku ink does not stain urushi.

Pilot has a secret method for cleaning urushi because they managed to remove the ink stains on my black Yukari section which has seen continuous use with Pilot Blue-Black for the past four years. Upon further enquiry, the technician claimed that he just used a mild detergent solution to clean my pen. I have not tested his method yet.

Thank you for the response - much appreciated. I tend to use Diamine inks for the variety of colours. I will test along those lines but they are fairly well behaved and should hopefully be fine to wipe off in the same way.

A vermilion on the way for a birthday present to myself.

Thanks again
