Just a quick snapshot with my cellphone. If someone wants to see more or detail I can take better pictures with my macro lens

That is nice!

Do you have any other lesser known Rotring fountain pens? That would be really interesting!

I might take my time tomorrow and show off a little bit of my rotrings. I specialized in the 600 series (and 600 newton). The oldest i've got is a "Tintenkuli" from 1955. Got a few odds and pieces like the lambda, rivette and freeway. Is there anything in particular you are interested in?

What if you show us your whole Rotring collection? That would be really cool!

I'm thinking about doing a "visual collectors guide to the rotring 600", but where should I post it? Reviews, History, Miscellaneous (Other) Brands, FAQ (for questions concerning the Rotring600)?

I'd suggest History as it's a discontinued model.

How about history? You could put approximate dates in, and it would be really interesting to see how the model changed. Even though I don't really care for the Rotring 600, I think I would find it very interesting.

Well, not that it matters, but I found the Lambda bp, and snapped a pic (and you can click on it for a larger image):

The top of the clicker's knurled, to keep a design theme with the fountain pen, but otherwise, it looks like it would be slimmer than the fp.

Just fyi...

Oh, weird... I have the image still in my library, but clicking on it gets the notice that the image has been removed, but the full image is still available. You can see it over yonder...

Breaking News:

I just got an old business catalogue from 1994. And it is full of astonishing revelations, including that this pen hast two names: Rotring Sigma if the clip is rectangular, this production ran from 1994 until 1996, after that it was called Rotring Lambda and has a round clip!

Unfortunately not yet! I will first have to clarify who currently owns the rights to these works because in german law there is no fair use doctrine. But the company who produced these catalogues seized to exist. As soon as I have clearance I will put them online for everyone to see.

Oh, sounds good. Thanks!

Also, I think if my impression of the clips are rights, then some of your pens and the OP's pen had rectangular clips, so they would be the Sigmas? And not sure if my ballpoint has a rounded clip or not. I think it's tapered, however.

yes exactly. The only difference between sigma and lambda is the clip, and as I've never heard of a Rotring Sigma before (not even Google has...) I always just shrug it off as a change in tooling, not a different line altogether. But the Sigma seems to be the exception, the Lambda is much more common. In the catalogue there is another hidden gem, a line of fountain pens that seems to have never made it past the stage where it was presented to the shops, so there are close to none in circulation. But I'm currently in the process of aquiring one - lets see how that pans out ...
