Yeah, that's the first of the two auctions I posted to begin this thread. The other one is still going on.

Check this out... it just sold for $152.50 plus $5.80 shipping... I think I'll list my 3 bottles and buy a new car! :D

Lucky vendor. It appears he lucked out with a couple of snipers at the very end.

The other auction hasn't taken off yet, with only one bid. Even then, its starting price is more than I would pay.

You know, I might just have to release my exact replica of RMS Titanic: hidden in Belfast all these years and just waiting for someone gullible enough to buy it. Bet no-one buys tickets for the voyage though.

Point? It's old. Get something that you can USE. And enjoy.

No ice though.

What makes you think you can't use it?

Nothing really. Just my old-fashioned habits and how I deal with expensive, irreplaceable things. But then I wouldn't pay that much for a bottle of ink: nor a replica luxury liner either.

P. T. Barnum was right.

(Well, actually David Hannum, but no need to quibble over details...)

Absolutely amazing that anyone would buy a bottle of ink for that price. I thought the price had reached sheer lunacy at $60.

The ink is amazingly beautiful and unique, but it is a bit troublesome in my experience. Although I had no difficulties in vintage flex with the ink, one of my Pelikan M400 pens with a totally reliable and wonderful Masuyama cursive italic nib started skipping after a few days use with the ink and I had to do a thorough cleaning with some dilute ammonia to get it all out.

The other auction went for basically half of the first one, roughly $80 US after shipping, iirc.

So funny what shortages make people do. I have a dozen PPS new bottles in two cases, and 4 more bottles not in the case. Imagine their value in another 10 years.

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

Penman ink dried up quickly and clogged people's pens, the reason they stopped making it in the first place.

I guess it is long enough now for people to have forgotten why it got scarce.

In another 10 years we can have Phase III of the nostalgia, nice inventory you have there!!

Yes, I remember the clogging issue. It was not a problem for me, during my use of the penman inks, but others did have a problem. In my experience, if the pen was used frequently clogging was not a problem.

However, one must remember that very Colorful and vivid inks were not in plentiful supply back then.

Ha, it was often difficult enough to find green Quink :D

While on this topic of Parker Penman, why did Parker stop this ink, I recalled using this Ink many yrs ago and loved it I had the chocolate colour one and it was one of my favourite, but why did Parker stop it.

To be honest here I preferred Penman over Quink.
