Fpn Pen Pal Group?

The reason we are all a part of this forum is because we all have a joy of not only pens but handwriting as well. I dont mean in the sense of fancy calligraphy, but the fact that hand written letters (especially to loved ones) have a level of personal attachment that goes well beyond what email can offer.

I am curious as to how many of you have a pen pal, or perhaps have toyed with the idea of getting one but never did. If this is a common thing, i thought about the idea of starting a pen pal group here on FPN, maybe if the mods think this is a good idea they can join in as well. It would be a place for anyone and everyone to find a pen pal with at least on very similar interest. What do you all think?

Good morning. You are of course right in your assumption of handwritten letters, and there are many of us on here with pen pals. If you look under the Write Stuff forum, there is a thread called Snail Mail list. In there you will be able to read posts from people looking for penpals or post one yourself. I did this a while ago and got one but have to admit I have let it slip a little recently.

I have two active letter writer pals and am counting at least more to be shortly. Yes, there already is a forum for that as stated above.

I write to many people in a lot of different countries. I checked the Snail Mail post, mentioned above, and found lots of like-minded folks to write to.

It seems that some active participation on here will get you penpals, purely because we enjoy using our pens and personal messages get a little dry. I'm out of the country at the moment, but over the past time when I've been active, I've added four.

That being said, I'm VERY verbose and opinionated, sometimes to the point of "that's enough!" :P

I have a few - in fact just sent a letter off today. To a young man in Lisbon Portugal. A week or so ago, to a FPN pen pal in Australia.

I've a few great letter participants and it just seemed logical to let others suffer with my handwriting the way I have to.

I watch your videos and enjoy them. I've not seen one recently, however. Hope all is well and that you will be able to flood those internet waves with more reviews.

Thanks,

Rick

I have about a dozen regular pen pals, and several more that write occasionally. There are many "fountain pen" oriented pen pal groups on Facebook.

I have been pen paling since 1968 and I have always used a fountain pen. I used them throughout my career (now retired) I'm a 58 yo Australian woman happily married living in a beautiful but remote part of Australia. I am always looking for fountain pen letter writers (I also have a cranky old electric typewriter as well! But I will not inflict that on anyone here - promise! :-) I adore writing to who are interesting people. Not sure how this works here but please email me/message me if you are interested.

Yes many of us have several pen pals. Go to The Write Stuff forum and check out the pinned threads: Snail Mail Writing List, The FPN Post Office and Postcard Swap to get involved. :)

This is another way to dip your toe in the pen pal waters without an ongoing commitment. https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/293480-the-next-poster-gets-a-letter-and-the-nextetc/ You post and then receive a letter from the person who posted just before you (you PM them your address, of course). Then send a letter to whomever posts next and PMs you their address.

I am going to do this. The idea excites me to actually get mail that is not a bill. Haha

I have a penpal. :) I enjoy writing and receiving letters a lot. But I also like to exchange e-mail messages. Writing is my passion.
