Very Famous Manga Artists Pens

Namo

Recommended Posts

I just saw the Leiji Matsumoto Limited Edition by Sailor, and I must say I love it. I am a comic's book fan (and wannabe writer, still to be published...), including Japanse comic's.

Does anyone know if this pen is a "one shot" by Sailor, or if it's going to be a regular, a bit like the "Writers edition" by MB?

If so, I might have found an expensive addiction.. and will be waiting for the Otomo specical edition!!

I don't know anything about the line, but that is so neat! I can think of several manga artists whose pens I would love to own!

Stang: I would be curious to have pics of the Omas you are refering to. I find it weird that no major euro-american pen brand never thought about a "comic's books" artists collection (what would a Alan Moore pen would look like? Hergé pen? ...) since most of these people did use pen and ink to draw and write...

FPFan: that's the pen I was refering to. What Sailor seems to say is that it is the first of a collection; hence my question.

swanjun: which artist would you like to see "pictured" as a fountain pen??

I don't particularly like the design of this Sailor; however, I do like the idea of a series of pens commemorating comic book artists. Pen and ink are the traditional tools of the comic book artist.

I was talking to my Sailor rep the other day and she doesn't seem to think that they'll be continuing the series. Although, who knows about the future? The pen was made in collaboration with the Leiji Matsumoto museum in Hiroshima. Since they commissioned the pen (I.e. it wasn't sailors idea) it doesn't seem likely that there will be other pens in this series.

As far as the design, I think it's a cool looking pen, though I am a big Leiji Matsumoto fan. It's not the best pen for writing with and is more of a collectors item then a writing instrument.

Presumably, if the pen sells well and there I enough demand for more pens, or another manga museum that wants a pen, we may see more pens like this from Sailor.

And if you're looking for other pens made in collaboration with manga artists, you can always get the sleeping mermaid from Dupont. They have 3 or 4 styles all designed in collaboration with One Piece author Eiichiro Oda.

Too bad it's not going to be a serie - thank you for this whole lot of first hand info! I will certainly have a look at the Dupont.

Seems I may have made a mistake. The Omas I have is an Omas Miku LE which seems to Hentai. I'm not sure that qualifies as Manga; I'm not very clear on these things (or much else. )

The Omas Miku is likely manga (print comic)-inspired but not from any series in particular. H*ntai refers to p0*n in manga or anime (animated) anime-form.

The Miku illustration is extremely suggestive, but not well-drawn imho. Just my 2 cents.

Yes the Sleeping Mermaid series is beautiful and elegant. Not directly linked to "One Piece" but very well-executed!

Just saw the Omas - can't say I love it - or that kind of Manga in general (big fan of Akira or Gunnm, but I am not a "connaisseur" of the genre). The Dupont is impressive - I guess there are two models? One gold, and one blue, based on the Defi model? From the pics, I must say I am more attracted to the Sailor since the shape of the pen in not generic but designed for the purpose to suggest the work of the artist. Not very convenient for writing maybe, but really nice - and the reason why the Kafka is my favorite among the Wrtiers serie by MB.
