I followed your link. They don't have as many shades of blue as I want. But I'm intrigued by the idea of a journal or sketchbook with built-in tools for my doodling or art work -

So I might try one, even if the only blue is a little boring.

They look interesting and can't wait to read a review. They claim to use 60lb paper - that's almost a light board weight so a little confused how that will work in a journal.

I ordered a couple of the hard bound note books today, I'll post more when I get them. I want on of their watches, it's been a while since you could buy a nice, American made timepiece. The fact that the watches and bicycles are made a few miles from my home is a big plus for me.

Larry, thats cool that you bought some! I agree, the watches, the whole company really is a great concept! The watches are super dressy, but awesome for any everyday, semi-casual watch!

I wanted to get one of the early issue watches, but both runs sold out in just hours. I'll have to wait till they can get their volumes up a bit. I WILL have one, eventually. I should have drove over and picked up the notebooks, I wasn't thinking. :headsmack:

Funny thing is, there was already a watch manufacturer close to your home: Ernst Benz, assembled at Universal Watch Repair of Birmingham MI of Swiss components. But they make every effort to hide the fact that they are assembled in Detroit, and you will find no mention on their official website that they are Detroit-owned and assembled (some models are anyway).

The Shinola watches (brought to you by the owners of Fossil, by the way, who are not from Detroit at all) make pains to call themselves "Built in Detroit", although technically they are "Swiss Made" because the majority of their components are from Switzerland.

So you have two Detroit companies, both making Swiss watches, one hiding the fact and one highlighting it.

Funny how marketing works. Both have their markets.
