On a previous thread, someone mentioned a BBC 4 tv programme called "The Century That Wrote Itself".

I watched the episodes back to back on the BBC i-Player and in one of them, the presenter pricks his finger and then proceeds to use a Ye Olde Worlde pen to write in his blood.

Ugh, it was the type of thing Vincent Price would do in a Dr Phibes film.

On a related note I recently spilled a drop of Diamine Eclipse on my unpainted thumbnail and the result was an extremely realistic faux-bruise. It filled the entire nail perfectly and even shaded around the cuticle. It looked like a hit my thumb with a hammer.

 

This should serve us well if we ever need to use our inks for prosthetic make-up.

Professionally I can tell you that the colour of blood can have the whole spectrum of reddish colours depending on the health of the victim, the oxygenation , the pH, ... .

Ah, yes ! Fresh blood is surprisingly bright red. Dulls quickly, though.

Helpful Heloise says that ink charts at the Goulet website are an option.
