Having yesterday afternoon performed an unplanned gravity-and-inertia test in our driveway, which efficiently de-surfaced my left knee, I am here to tell you that Skrip red (new) is quite a good match for fresh blood, while Diamine Poppy Red matches very fresh blood in smaller quantities, and also the de-surfaced skin region itself.

Actually, no. That may gross quite a few users out. I do hope your injury will heal as quickly as Noodler ink drying. This kind of testing isn't really what any of us demand, although your dedication is laudatory :P

 

Out of curiosity, did you hobble into your home, pull out your stash of inks, and start matching them to your fresh injury? Because THAT is real dedication!

Conventional wisdom would suggest Scabiosa, but I vote for Diamine Rustic Brown.

Too late to prove that, as it's not fresh anymore...

 

And, no, I didn't actually swab inks on the spot, as we were attempting to get ready to leave to our friends' garden party. Just slapped a dressing on it, grabbed the salad and the cupcakes, and headed out. But I've graded enough exams of late, using both colors, that I have a good visual memory of Skrip and Poppy.

No clue what ink that might be. It's not at that stage yet, anyway.

I just hope you didn't get the dressings confused. That would have been quite a surprise for you and the party guests! :o

No kidding--that would be unpleasant!

 

And to thank all of you for chiming in and commiserating, here's the recipe, for lovers of tomatoes:

 

Peeled, diced(or sliced) fresh tomatoes (6 - 8, depending on size)

1/4 C olive oil, and 2 T lemon juice, whisked or beaten together (I add a little balsamic vinegar as well)

3-4 cloves garlic, minced

fresh basil, chopped, to taste

1/2 tsp salt and dash fresh ground pepper

 

Combine all and chill for ~3 hours. (You've got to like garlic for this one.)

Oh, sorry -- was reading this late last night... Skrip does dry a bit darker than when wet. Poppy doesn't --it holds its brilliant red color. Love it!

Really? I would imagine that the color would change and fade over time, and I imagine it being too viscous to write with nicely. I supposed I have no actual intentions of writing with human blood (or blood of any kind), but the feasibility intrigues me.

Did the person use his own blood? Or someone/something else's? And what was the time test like?

Diamine Oxblood looks like dried blood to me.

As to the Human Blood review, creepy to say the least.
