Parker 21 Vs. Parker Super 21?

I support the "Super" 21 team. I made my Super 21 into a Super, Super 21 by the local Parker people at their suggestion for about $3.00 (oh the good old days when you did not have to post off your pen for service, and you got SERVICE) putting in a P 51 14ct nib in 1968...still going strong.

Any more info on the nib conversion? That sounds like a fun project! I don't the the Parker 21 was ever sold with a gold nib though!

The aerometric converter/filler is usually marked "21" or "Super 21".

Only the 21 filler is marked as 'PARKER 21'.The Super 21 has a filler shroud that only says 'PARKER. No number at all on the Super 21 filler shroud. The cap of the Super 21,however, is marked 21.

I often thought of putting a 51 nib into a Super 21. Most of the 51 nibs I have bought were more expensive than an entire Super 21. So, you have probably doubled the value of your Super 21.

I just received my eBay Parker Super 21 in red with SS cap saying 21 on both sides. The eBay ad didn't say "Super" and I was not educated on all the variations of the 21. Everything I've read about the Super 21 checks out; this is most definitely a Super 21, and this one is a fine writer. Yes, also a Fine width nib. I did find it had a seriously bad hard-start after a full day unused... none of my "51"s have every hard started - they begin writing the moment the nib touches the paper. Perfect. All my "51"s are gold-nibbed; even my "51" Special has a gold nib that is particularly excellent. This Super 21 has a pretty decent steel nib with ample amounts of feedback. I like it.

Re: the filling unit - it's shorter and narrower than the "51" Special's filler. And mine says only PARKER, and then the instructions.

But there's more - near the front of the filler, close to the black threads on the connector are the letters B and D, with about three letters-width space between them. The threaded connector is "underneath" them; these letters are perpendicular to all the other text on the filler. Has anyone seen these imprinted letters and what do they mean?
