Some of you may know "sheafferkid." Well, this is (seriously) his twin brother, Kyle. I am new here, but I know a bit about forums. I also collect vacuum cleaners. Thanks!

My favorite pen so far would have to be my black and gold Sheaffer's Tuckaway piston filler. I am getting it refurbished as I type. I can't wait to get it back!

Hey Kyle! Enjoy the forum as I have! Doug, my bro collects vintage vacuums. Old ones like Kirby, Rexair, etc. He has about 11 (I've lost count...)

Are you the good twin, or the evil twin? :P Just kidding, welcome! But, ... VACUUM CLEANERS???????? And I thought the guy who collected typewriters was wierd! Again, just kidding! (Kinda  ). I think you may find that collecting fountain pens is not so stressful on the real estate limits as is your current interest. Again, welcome, have fun!

He is definitely the evil twin! Our history teacher calls me the evil one, but that was just because I once forgot an assignment and Kyle didn't...(everyone else thinks I'm nicer :P ) Oh, he has a few typewriters too. Yes, our room that contains all of our collections, desks, computers, etc, is quite full due to these vacs...Instead of vacuums he should be more interested in Vacumatics (hahaha! What a great pun!)

Maybe the dog ate it??? :roflmho:

And so the REAL "evil twin" always says ... :P

So do you guys get along (as it seems you do)? I have an unfortunate memory of my high school days, in which identical twins in my class had a real beef with each other. One went jock, the other went arts and humanities, and they couldn't resist mixing it up at lunchtime. Of course. the jock whupped the snot out of the humanitarian. It still haunts me to this day, brothers whomping on each other, considering the nasty "might makes right" unfairness of it all. Sigh. In any event, being real twins is a trip that the rest of us can only try to imagine! Wotta trip!!! I sometimes think I have a decent understanding with my dog, but that's as far as it goes. And I'm not sure my dog agrees. So, if you feel free to comment, what is it like to live so closely to someone who is so very much like you??? I certainly hope you both get along with each other. Being a twin is so much a unique experience that the rest of us can only try to imagine.

Welcome, Kyle!

I also have a small collection of vacuum cleaners, mostly Kirby but also some Rainbows going back into the forties. For daily use, though, I use a Miele. As you know if you're on forums much, vac people take their enthusiasm very seriously!

Hope you enjoy it here--

Hi Kyle,

Welcome to FPN.

I used to collect vacuum cleaners but found they ruined the shape of my breast pockets and caused raised eyebrows at work, so I went back to pens

Hello and Welcome :D

I hope you have as much fun here as your twin brother does. I thought you were a Parker Vacumatic fan by your member nickname

I've got a question - We have an Electrolux vacuum cleaner that we've been using to vacuum the house for several years. Once upon a time, the sound became much louder than it used to be. What causes a vacuum cleaner motor to become significantly louder than before  ?

ps: I had a vacuum disaster today  I accidently sucked in a disposable vinyl glove that was on the floor, and it got stuck in the tube. First I tried to pour water thru the vacuum tube...but that didn't work <_< Then I tried to use some metal wire...that didn't work <_< I managed to "fish" it out with a long pole

I'm NOT going to ask what you were doing with a vacuum cleaner and a vinyl glove :o

Well...many times, an increase in noise is either bearing problems or brush problems. When bearings dry up, they tend to make a lot of noise. I am doing some motor work with a 1940s Rexair model B. This vacuum needs new brushes and bearings. Your brushes might also be bad. I have not done too much work on Luxes, but chances are it is your bearings. May I ask what model/what it looks like?

Oh, and by the way...my brother has it all wrong! I am purely the "pure of heart" twin. Don't let him tell you otherwise. That just further proves how guilty and evil he truly is. :D

No! Dont let him trick you! I'm definitely a lot nicer! Please belive me! (see what great manners I have, I used please!) Hahahaha! Nihonotochicken, we have another set of twins at our school that dont get along well at all. One is in band with us and is very nice, but the other is "punk" and is not nice. We've known them for 10 years now (grew up together) and they still don't get along! Lucky for Kyle and I, we have similar interests (pens, band, math and science, etc) so we get along quite well.

Model B is a beautiful machine--what's your favorite Rainbow? My daily user is the SE with the optional 4-quart reservoir. Do you have a favorite Kirby? Though I have two G's, I still prefer the older ones, for better suck.

Darn! I guess the picture is too big for the server...I love the way the B looks. I have it all taken apart. I must find some paint for it. I need new brushes and bearings for it. My favorite Rexair/Rainbow would have to be the B, just because it is so cool looking. My favorite Kirby is either the 505 or C. I am trying to find a silk screen printing kit so I can make my own "authentic" Kirby model C bags. They were originally silk screened. Check out:

regarding some neat vacuums. Scroll down 'til you get to the section of "Things that go vrooo..." This guy, Charles Lester, is an awesome collector. He has a lot of info about vacuums, too!

Kyle, remember, this is a pen forum, not a vacuum forum! Lets post pics of pens instead! Also, everyone check out some cool micrographs of nibs I took under Repair Q and A's "using a microscope with a nib." theyre really cool!
