What a fascinating thread! And an exciting project!

I had a couple of ideas to pass along but as I read through the posts this morning (sorry, missed the thread entirely last month) I found the things I was going to mention have been, and many other great ideas besides. I've enjoyed the various links and references. Please keep us posted, Rob, about the progress of your project, especially about publication of your book, as I will certainly be a buyer.

Here's another one for you --

Common Medieval Pigments

By the way, are you using Mendeley to keep track of your references?

Thanks everybody for the interest and the absolutely terrific links. dcwaites, I guess I'm old fashioned in that I keep track of everything on regular ol' word files and docs. I've written three other books and I've just gotten used to doing it that way, though chances are it would be more efficient to group things in a more organized way.

This project keeps getting more and more fun. This morning, I interviewed a Sofer--a man who writes the Torah--in Jerusalem to talk about the ink that has been used since the time of Maimonides, and the power of writing the word "God" in a holy book. That was incredible.

Thanks again--I'm looking over anything that anyone says so it's all extremely appreciated and valued.
