Fp-Friendly Paper For Airmail Letters? Advice Please.

Tom, TR paper is a bit over the top for informal letters IMO. Yes, I do love the stuff (I have two 288s and an LP Record), but Kokuyo Campus Report Pad was alright for informal letters, or the Maruman equivalent. You can buy those at Kinokuniya, Gramedia, or Paperclip.

Sure, Tony, the Campus pads are not that bad and way less expensive ($7 vs. $12). But they do provide feathering and they are 'slow' papers - my term for a paper surface which puts the breaks on my writing, it is not really slick or glassy and so it provides resistance to a nib.

The Campus paper is also heavier compared to the TR paper, which makes the letter more expensive (stamps). Finally I can only buy it here in a ruled and dotted version which has a "NO." and a "DATE" imprinted on the top right corner, and every line is counted and the line numbers are printed at the end of the lines ("5, 10, 15,...,30. The sheet has exactly 34 lines). A letter looks really not so nice on it.

And yes, my letters to friends are informal, but I like these writings more than any formal writing which I usually do anyway on a PC and print out. Well, my point is, writing such letters is a great way for me to connect to people and so I try to amplify this enjoyment with the usage of a FP and great paper. All my friends deserve this :) (aka great excuse for me to indulge in luxurious paper).

When I just write a grocery list or some daily reminders and such, I will use any cheap paper at hand though. I'm not that snobby ;).

I'm waiting for my glorious notebook with TR paper, so how do you like your 288/LP Record?

No, it's quite clear this is not snobbery. I do agree about the unsightly heading line with date etc. hence I put informal qualifier. For fancy stuff, I don't know, perhaps G Lalo writing set? But they're heavy stuff, not quite suitable for airmail IMHO.

The notebooks are great, but I want something smaller. So, next I'm gonna order the, 216? And for some reason the binding on some signatures of my LP rec were a bit tight, perhaps because of the thickness of the whole, but not a big deal. I'm sure you'll like yours, they are simply fantastic.

2nd on Basildon Bond. Creamy texture, smooth writing, quick writing that made the blotter on the first page rather useless. Beautiful.

Now if they'd only make all other papers (fillers, notebooks, e.t.c.)...

I wish you well with your new paper ventures and look forward to hearing your impressions once you get this paper and the journal. I hope you are as satisfied as I have been.

The Design.y EP record notebook arrived and it dwarfs any of my Moleskine NBs. It is absolutely gorgeous, fantastic, outstanding, awesome, superb, amazing... :D

Damn, that's a notebook! I'm really happy I ordered it. By far the best journal NB I have ever used. Thanks for the advice!

They send me also some spare sheets of this paper, which is nice to try out all inks and nibs on this paper size prior to use them in the NB. As by now all my inks and nibs just work great on this paper.

Ok, off now to write -> 480 pages!

Great to hear your satisfaction, and a relief to some degree. This journal is very expensive by any measure and I alwayfeel some s reluctanance recommend it because of the price.

Yes, it is comparatively expensive, but I have been warned. And a good croissant is made with butter and not margarine, right!

(I'm still fighting with myself to ask you for a good sour dough recipe - well, now it's out)
