Parker Fever + Ebay = 5 Coming In The Mail!

Hello denizens of Parker-world! I recently developed an acute form of Parker fever and went on a bidding spree on the E-nabler-bay. Rather than blow all my money on a single new (Pilot) pen, I decided to try my hand at buying vintage and fixing up pens myself. No pics yet but here are the 5 pens slowly winging their way to my door: Parker 45 Flighter, Parker 51 x 2, Parker 21 Super x 2, and Parker 21 Non-Super. I'll have to be careful with the 21's since I already cracked the section of my Parker 45, which I only received this month! I plan to carry the 45 and 51's around as part of my fountain pen EDC. The 21's will stay on my desk to minimize cracking.

I'll be sure to post pictures when I get them!

(I credit Penkino1 and his Parker 51 videos for starting my Parker fever)

I am usually to be found carrying at least one P51/61 or a Duofold/Chinese Duofold copy. Parker's shape & style certainly suits my hand.

The pens you have gone for sound sensible. I must admit I'm glad I only have one proper P21 & one P21S, as the pens are not up to the quality of the P51. Of all Parker's hooded nib pens of lesser quality than the P51/61, I prefer the later P17's with the black plastic connector, as the overall pen shape is identical to the P61 - and that's an amazing shape to use.

Regards,

Richard.

Update!

From bottom to top:
Parker 21 Super black/silver with F octanium nib
Parker 21 non-super black/silver with F octanium nib
Parker 21 Super blue/silver with F octanium nib
Parker 51 black/silver with FM octanium stub nib (I didn't like the 14k nib it came with and hand ground a spare octanium nib into a stub!)
Parker 51 navy grey/silver with M 14k nib
Parker 45 flighter with F steel? nib

I'm using one 51 as my daily writer and keeping the other for spare parts. The 21 non-super isn't worth much so I won't try to resell it. I'm not in love with the 45's slim barrel and will probably try to sell it. The 21 Supers will be kept as back up writers to be strategically placed around home/work/school.

All in all money well spent!

Looks as if you've got a nice little collection started.

I don't have a Super 21 but I have at least one of all the others (51, 45 and regular 21) and I have to say that I'm completely sold on vintage Parkers. Even my 21 is in good shape (other than every now and then the hood seems to go out of alignment with the nib). All are good writers and I can recommend them as wonderful pens.

Of course the problems with pens that are so reliable is that if you don't overly like the ink that's in them it takes *forever* to write them dry; I've got Iroshihzuku Winter Persimmon in the 21 at the moment -- well behaved ink, but it's very, *very* orange.... :headsmack:

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."
