Assistance Sought - Clip

The clip of my Jinhao 159 is a lot more tight-sprung than I'd ideally like it to be. To slip it into my shirt pocket takes a wee effort and while that's still manageable, to take it out therefrom seemingly threatens to rip a tear in the pocket.

 

Any ideas on how to safely loosen the clip without endangering the pen in any way or making it too loose to be of further use?

PS: The top bit of the cap cannot be unscrewed and the clip detached from the pen, in case you wondered...
