The ones I want I can't even find them with a medium nib to begin with, always F or XF.

I have a 911, Mako Shark. Definitely a western medium. Which models are you seeing as F/EF?

Thanks.

The thing is, all of a pen model seem to have the same nib. So if you are looking at alternatives of the same model hoping for a different nib size, they'll all have the same nib. With one notable exception - the brush/caligraphy nib is sometimes offered as an alternative.

I have 3 or 4 (maybe more) and have found them to be sturdy, with a nice "finish" to them, and they write well without needing much fuss.

In addition to one from Ebay, I have gotten them from 2 US sources, www.isellpens.com and www.hisnibs.com.

Added: I prefer a Western medium also and would like it if Duke offered more nibs in that size range. I think the ones I have were labeled medium, and seem to be close enough for me to the typical Western medium, but I had to do a lot of patient searching to find sources that had the medium ones. When I search Ebay, overwhelmingly most of the Chinese pens of any brand, including Duke, are fine.

I really like the white porcelain with blue Chinese poem on it that I got most recently from a Chinese seller on Ebay. It doesn't say on the nib, but it looks like a medium when I write with it.

I have seen that one referred to as the Beijing Opera or Chinese Opera pen, I think.

The Beijing Opera is a different pen (although similar):

Deep blue/black lacquer, less decorated than the Guibao above, smaller size. It's a regular size pen, while the Guibao is oversize.

I bought a duke pen from ebay. It's a funny looking, informal pen. Duke Red Cloud. It's a bit top-heavy if I post the cap but the body is made of nice lightweight aluminum. I ground the nib into an italic nib. It writes very nicely. Duke is a good brand, in my opinion.

I own that one, as well as the bamboo-looking fude. The 'clouds' model is a very wet and juicy writer, but I can't put anything but red or brown ink in it, lol.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

The Duke pen I prefer is the Porcelain

it's so delicate and elegant.

But the most impressive is the Guibao (L.E.), in my opinion.

It's the most tipical Chinese, as we - Western people - imagine Chinese pens should be: rich, overdecorates, gold and colors...

They are regarded as High End pens in the bookstores here in Vietnam. I bought one and I found it well made with attention to the details and writing properly.

However, its ergonomics, weight and nib sensation were not of my liking and gave it to a friend. Its porcelain pens are beautiful.
