I too experienced a crack on my VAC 700 but after getting in contact with Philip problem solved. Just waiting on parts. Excellent customer service. Yes I would buy another one. Looking at the 580 al in orange next

I just wanted to share my excellent experience with TWSBI's customer service. Over the last few weeks I developed some cracks on the top of the barrel where the nib screws in. I went to the website yesterday afternoon around 3pm and submitted my information. This morning at 8am Philip emailed me back I sent him some photos of my cracks (I will include a photo below) and he is now mailing me out a replacement barrel. It sucks that it happened but they are making it right and in a VERY timely manner.

 

Thanks Philip for the help! If anyone is having trouble with their pen TWSBI seems to be very helpful.

Relatively new here but I have a 580 and vac 700. I had a small issue with a stiff piston on my vac 700 but Philip of TWSBI responded within hours and all is fine.

 

I enjoy using the TWSBI pens.

I like the TWSBI concept, and I really appreciate that they are working hard to make sure customers are getting a quality product, even if some of the originals may have had defects that required replacement.

 

So, I am curious if the replacement parts have the same issues with cracking and so on as the original parts? I ask because I have a TWSBI 540 barrel that needs to be replaced due to cracking around where the piston attaches.

I had to replace the grip section and barrel of my 540. It's been two years, no problems at all.

I seem to have leaking problems with all of my TWSBI's. Gonna do some work on them this weekend...then contact Mr Wang if nothing works. I really love TWSBI's and would like to get more use out of them

My first TWSBI - Vac 700 with EF nib. A bit scratchy and too dry. Occasional skips. Tried pressing the nib shoulders, and pressing on the tip to make it wetter. It is a bit wetter, but still too dry.

 

I have it for just a few days, but my appreciation seems to have gone just because of the nib. It's just not as bad as to make me contact the shop and request replacing the nib (was pondering on this, but it's too much hassle).

 

Would I buy it again? Not sure, maybe I would risk it once more. I like the filling system, vac bottle, ink capacity and being able to see how much ink is left (my only demonstrator), but it is a huge, huge disappointment that the pen writes worse than many of my much cheaper pens (eg. Pilot).

 

I am thinking whether I should buy a new "F" nib in attempt to rescue this pen, or give up on this brand and stick to either cheap pens, or something I can personally try in the shop.

Definitely give the F nib a try. Or an M. I encountered the same problem with my EF and simply determined that was the way they were. An F nib solved the issue, nicely. An M nib was even better.

Thanks for the tip, Arandur. I specifically wanted fine nib and did not know whether to ho with F of EF. I've found somewhere an opinion that there is not much difference between F and EF in TWSBIs, and I was worrying that F may be too broad.

 

I'd be happy if my VAC wrote the same as Pilot Metropolitan. Its nib is marked as M, but on the box over here in Poland they have changed it to F. Which of the TWSBI nibs is similar in width to the Pilot Metropolitan's nib - F or M?

So I had this Diamond 540 with 2 cracks in the section and a crack on the barrel. I contacted TWSBI and they said they will mail me brand new Diamond 580 parts which is of course compatable. During the week while I was waiting for the new parts coming in, I was cleaning out the old Diamond 540 and the part of the feed that screws into the barrel broke. I was like....damn, I guess I have to buy a new nib unit. The package arrived today and not only did it have a replacement barrel and section, but it came with a brand new feed as well! They also sent another part for the piston unit. I was dumbfounded at all the parts that they sent me. It feels like my Diamond 540 turned into a Diamond 580! All it's missing is the metal part on the piston screw cap and a cap that says Diamond 580 and I will essentially have a 580!

The customer service is amazing

I've followed your advice and got a 580 with an F nib and it writes well. Now I regret not having bought a replacement nib for Vac together with 580; will have to wait until the next purchase :-(

I just bought a Twsbi Vac mini and was having trouble - dry, skipping, and it would stop dead after about half a page. (Sound familiar??)

 

I contacted Twsbi on Saturday night, around 11pm, expecting a reply at some point on Monday.

 

Philip wrote back 10 minutes after I sent the email (!!!!) with suggestions on how to fix the pen. He then said that if the suggestions didn't work, to send the pen in and they would fix it.

 

(I got the pen to work. Yay! Great pen, fantastic customer service. I am happy.)

My VAC 700 cracked today - the cap broke cleanly around the metal ring and fell off.

 

I have had it for one and half years and definitely this pen is not for me - after I have replaced the nib it wrote better, but still the flow kept stopping occasionally and the constant fiddling with it made me crazy The only thing I like about this pen is its accompanying ink bottle.

 

580 never had any flow issues, but after this crack in VAC700 I fear that 580 is the same quality as the VAC.

 

I also have two ECOs which I bought in August 2015 and these are great - they are constantly inked (different colours) and laying in a pile of stuff on my desk - I have not witnessed any kind of issue with them whatsoever - not a single skip, not a single startup issue, the pen is simple and inexpensive They are so ugly, but I plan to buy two more (with clear cups) because they do write and seem less fragile.

It is great that TWSBI are standing by their products. It means that I would be happy to buy more of their pens. I only have an eco so far but am torn between buying am vac mini and a Diamond Mini later on as well. Whether they are worth nearly double the price of the Eco though I am not so sure as the Eco is terrific. I buy from a local online penshop in England who have a good reputation so hopefully will not need to send to Taipei for warranty repairs should they become necessary.

 

How long is the Warranty may I ask?
