Using Sennelier Inks With Dip Pens?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

today I got a pair of bottles of Sennelier ink as a present. They're shellac-based, and I've never used this type of ink before.

I tried them both with pointed nibs (Esterbrook 357 and Gillot 404) and italic ones (Leonardt), and with the pointed ones they didn't flow well, whereas with the italic ones they just left gobs in the page.

(The nibs are clean and don't have problems with other inks I have).

Does anyone have any tips on how to use them? Should I dilute them for the pointed pen work, and use gum arabic for the broad pens?

Any hint would be very welcome!

Martín
