Montblanc 163R Bordeaux

Dear All,

I am on the verge of purchasing a Montblanc 163r (MINT, NEW) from old stock. I am attaching a picture here. It is costing around 400USD.

The point here is that the cap and the barrel are noticably of a LIGHTER burgundy color, than the holder area of the pen. Is that normal?

The vendor tells me that is how they have been made. Additionally, he has also informed me that it also used to come in black holder area.

My question looking at the differences between the colors is, is this an original? I thought that everything was of the same color?

Please help!

Thanks and regards,

LH

I wouldn't touch it. The different color shading really bothers me. I don't know enough about roller ball pens to be able to say whether it's authentic.

Nonetheless, the price is very high.

$400 US will easily get you the classic or the legrand bourdeau fountain pen.

Same as meiers, don't know much about these models.

But I don't like the mismatched colours and I don't like the price.

I think you can do better.

Just thoughts in passing.

Good luck.

I definitely wouldn't buy it with that different coloured grip. It's not how it was made and has been matched (or mismatched) to a Bordeaux barrel and cap.

Mind you there are many on ebay that have a black grip so a darker shade of Bordeaux is at least a step in the right direction

This is how it should look.
