Bigger Boxes

I don't know if this is a good idea or not it will be a large box with two drawers for pens and a large storage area on the top with a lid.

Anyway here is my first drawing it is based on a cutlery box I restored recently.

What thickness the wood? You wouldn't want it too massive?

If that were going to be my box I would want three drawers and an upstairs space for pens in addition to ink...

But, alas. Big boxes will be a local thing for me, if I ever find someone to make me one. Not worth shipping such a big box...

Cabinet scrapers arrived very east to use and remove small amounts of wood super smooth finish

I will apply more wax and then a bit more wax

 

There is something about this box that I really like the colour of the inlay seems to get closer to the colour of the veneer everyday it is very tactile.

Hi Luma I suppose you could put all of your pen cleaning and repairing gear in there it will have some form of dividers

Hi mhguda I have given this some thought I have some oak that I bought to make a jewellery box but never used however it could be made from MDF as it is going to be veneered anyway.

 

 

Ink?

My first thought was ink I think it would hold more than 25 bottles of quink I am still open to ideas

I was putting the finishing touches to this box well (other than the inside of the lid) the normal magnets I use would not fit into the lid so I had to order some new sizes ie small.

 

 

Instead of hiding the magnets under veneer I have cut some little pads from suede and put them over the top of the magnets I hope it will work.
