Bigger Boxes

Recommended Posts

I did try to write the advert earlier I will get around to it soon honest.

I am coming round to grey.

I misread your post and was wondering what three motifs you were talking about :lticaptd: I think I may have had too much pain medication today.

So Fiona what sort of tree are you thinking of small details are difficult although I had some success using a bag of sand to push the suede into the small gaps.

I will be happy to make you a pen box when you are ready

Thanks

Michael

How about the general shape of a laurel tree, chose a striking outline, and then there is no need for a lot of detail.

I'm wanting an ink box now........

What do you have in mind a small box for sample bottles or something larger.

Does it have to be a laurel tree? I sent a PM with some outlines of different trees... not sure which but maybe it'll be of some help.

Hi Luma

I don't think it has to be a Laurel tree it does not have to be a tree I did some trial runs with an image of a fountain pen but I could not find a shape that I was happy with.

First stage of the interior is half way to being complete as I will be leaving the lid until it is sold.

The inserts are all complete I will allow the glue to dry and check for shrinkage if anything shrinks I will cry.

er...not me.

Is it possible that, whatever it is, it is one of those things that will bother the maker, but no one else will ever notice it?

I like to have a piece of suede between the top and bottom pieces it acts as a stop for the lid and stops the hinges from being seen.

Where this blue colour has come from I don't know it is the same grey colour as the rest until I take a picture then it gets a bluish tint.

All is well now I have removed the side pieces fitted the hinge pieces the put the sides back in place.

I need to remove some of the material from the divider without damaging the suede time for a cup of tea!

Thanks for looking

These images are left and right and give a better idea of the colour This is the final dry fit for the inserts which will be glued in place once the dividing piece of oak has been trimmed to the correct size

Wow great work once again Michael. The grey color is a nice contrast to the wood finish.

Thanks luma

I freely admit that I had help with the choice of colour I think if it was left to me the interior would either be black or red.

I think a wax finish would be best then I suppose it is time to decide on a price and put it in the classifieds.

Thanks for looking and helping.
