Ink Eraser

Ink erasure is a problem. The curved scalpel blade is a good answer, provided it is kept razor sharp, but (as mentioned) the paper must be resurfaced before writing over the erased area.

Ink rubbers do not work at all successfully on any but strong, high-quality papers; they abrade the surface and are difficult to control. Typewriter rubbers are just the same as ink rubbers - they contain a very high proportion of course abrasive, literally intended to grind the ink away, along with the paper, unfortunately.

My solution is to use a hard eraser insert in a motorized eraser. You must work gently, lightly and slowly (this cannot be done in a hurry) so that you cause the least possible damage to the paper itself, and burnish the surface afterwards.

Sincerely, beak.
