Noodler's Habanero

Here's my review of Noodler's Habanero. For me it's too close to Apache Sunset to really prove that it needs to be in existence, but there are enough subtle differences that, for a fan of the color, it would be easy to choose a favorite.

Thank you for putting it right next to Apache Sunset - I've often wondered if the difference would be appreciable.

Trust me, Apache Sunset is browner. Habanero is more dried blood. Both great!

I have both and agree with your assessment. In my tests I found Sunset to be a bit browner and I also thought habanero was dry in some of my pens. I'm not positive I could tell the difference on paper if I didn't see them side by side though

I've often heard (without really getting a chance to see it in person) that Apache Sunset has more shading properties- and that it shades more readily- than Habanero. I've never really used Habanero in a pen with a wide enough nib to see much shading at all, myself. But perhaps that would be a point to consider for a lot of people? From your review, it doesn't seem to me that Habanero has a lot of shading, you give it a 3 yourself, which puts it about middle of the road.

@Harly - if you want a shader - Apache Sunset is the bomb - I like Habanero because it is darker.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).
